Today I suffered the misfortune of shredding a tyre and scuffing the two nearside wheels when I hit a pothole at 60mph on a local road....................... amazed at how well the car performed as we felt the pothole, heard that heart wrenching phizzzzzzzzzzzzzzz as the air rushed out and then the noise of alloy running on granite chip surfaced road. My brother who was passenger was amazed that there was no fuss, no veering from the straight ahead and also we were able to stop the car very quickly. LRA's AA back-up appeared promptly after i called them. Alicatt will know the road well - the A81 from Callander to Port of Menteith just outside Callander, after he had been mis-directed to somewhere else by the AA dispatcher. The AA changed the wheel for us and I put the front alloy and now shredded tyre into the boot. When I got home (all of 8 miles away) I joked with my brother that at least I have 2 complete sets of spare wheels and tyres I can fit - MTR's on 19" wheels and my winter wheels and Tyres also on 19's - he bet me I couldn't get all of them into the boot............................... I actually got 8 x 19" wheels with tyres on them, a 20" wheel with shredded tyre and 2 x16" Defender MTRs on their alloys too!
First job tomorrow is to get into town and get the 3 remaining 20's off the car and the 19" Ice and Snow put back on as I have to drive to London tomorrow night and leave the 20's with the tyre fitters to fit a full new set of Pirelli Scorpions all round as I notice that two of the remaining tyres are now down to their depth indicator bars - 25000 miles on the original tyres isn't bad and I will bite the bullet and go for a new full set. Interesting comment when I phoned the tyre centre this afternoon and asked about fitting another brand and they offered Yokohamas or Hankook but reckon that they will be lucky to see 15000 miles let alone the 25k I've seen on the Pirellis, so I'm putting on new Pirellis at £185 a corner..............  2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Local tyre centre who supply all my RRS and Defender tyres, swap them round for nowt too, the whole family takes their cars to them for servicing, exhausts and tyres because their service is brilliant and the prices better than we can get anywhere else. I'm just back from leaving the wheels at the tyre centre and here is how they have done them so cheaply - Budget (a subsidiary of Kwik-Fit) are doing a special deal on Pirellis - any Pirelli tyres, buy 3 and get the fourth free! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Not yet, having just lightened the wallet of £900 it can wait until the warranty expires in October's payroll!
