Creaky Suspension

I recently sent my car back to the Stealers as I'd got an oil leak and the suspension was very creaky, more noticable at slow speed.

I was informed the oil was leaking from the suspension system and in turn was probably causing the creaking noise.

I've now got the car back and the leak has been fixed, oil put back in the system, tie rods and ball joints checked. I noticed however that the creaky suspension was still evident. Has any one else experienced this? I'm now doubting myself and thinking this is normal and it had always been like this.

Any comments are appreciated.

Are you sure it is the suspenson?
I ask because I have an issue with slight break squeel at lo speed.
Stealers have had it in and cleaned the handbreak drums. Goes away for a while after that.

It is definately the suspension. As I said it is only noticable at low/idle speeds but definately hear it as the car rocks back and forth.

Ive got the dreaded suspension creak - give up now - the dealers are crap at fixing it. Mines been in 4 times now and its no better. I had the mass dampers and new arb bushes fitted last week and that sorted out a different noise but the suspension creaks like an old wardrobe.

Best of luck! FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Oh balls! Got the same creak and mine is booked in on the 8/6/10. Its only started in the last couple of weeks. Oh and my tailgate glass stoped working and my rear bumper looks like an orange!!!!!! It only goes in for them to check and then they book it in a few months later to do the work to it. Don't you just love stealers and there ways of doing stuff. It's a good job i love the car or i would stuff it where the sun does not shine.! Censored Big Cry

I had the exact same problem on my car. Driving over an uneven surface, or even when parking up, the car would squeak and creak. Replace both front and rear antiroll bar bushes and all sorted. Rear was easy to do. Fronts are a little harder

Thanks for the replies. Re-assuring tha I'm not the only one with these problems.

Mnadeem - did you use someone locally to do the bushes or do it yourself? Only reason is I notice your in Birmingham which is where I'm at so if you could recommend anyone reasonable I could give them a try. I'm still going to try the dealers but undoubtedley they claim its not a warranty item.

Stella - it IS a warranty mod. I have just had all of the bushes, roll bar and ball joints done under warranty.
Everyone could hear the car coming down the street. The problem happened overnight almost.

Mines was not covered under warrantee. Thats a Landrover approved warrantee. Was refused twice. Once in Dec 2009 and now again in May 2010. This maybe because its an extended warrantee and not the original three year you have when purchasing the vehicle.

I ordered the parts from the dealers costing me £24.66 for the front two bushes for the pair and £17.50 for the pair of rear ones. The price does vary if you have ACE or not. I replaced them myself as I have my own garage. Let me know if you need anymore help.

Thanks for the replies guys - Very helpful.

I've just had word from the Stealer that the ACR system was replaced and ball joints. I now need to re-book for the bushes.

I must say they are a bit thick, they must have still been able to hear the creak ... its like oh well we tried to fix it ! and sent it back to me anyway .... grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Censored wits !

Well got car back yesterday from dealers AND they have done tailgate, ARB bushes and some updates for the car to go into sleep mode (not sure on this one). Its like a new car. Over the moon. A guy called mark kept me informed all the time and rang when he said he would. Cheers Yeovil. The paint work on the bumper will be done at a later date but the cars drives like a dream. Thumbs Up

I took the tec out in the car with me to let him hear the noise of suspension so he knew what to look out for. He said it was the arb bushes but he would give it a good look over to. Would be worth doing that in your case to but it is down to the dealer to. Good luck with yours stella. Thumbs Up
