Psssttt.....mine grew 2 iches....

Awww...sorry to disappoint you guys, also i don't have the answer to this secret. Crying or Very sad

But actually, i was talking about my wheels. Laughing

My RRS was delivered in 2005 with the ugly 18 inch alloys.
Those where replaced by 19' and 2 months ago by 20' 10 spokes. all wheels where dressed with normal road tires.
What a difference!!
And yes, i have not the dampened steering rack, and yes it drives perfectly without any shimmy or vibration what so ever. Cool

The question is: do i have to adjust the board computer (if possible) to display the correct distance/time/speed?
The circumference is different from the old wheels. When i do now 140 km/h it feels more like 120 km/h.
I know the difference can not be that big, but still..

Thanks

It's not the wheel circumference, it's the tyre circumference that matters - has that changed? Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1.8::MG Montego Turbo::MGB GT::Rover Sterling::MGF::MG ZT 190+

Yes! You are completely right! Embarassed

The original 18' wheels had 255/60R18 tires and the current 20' wheels have 275/40R20 tires.

After an internet search, i found this link: http://www.landroverwinkel.nl/My_Homepage_Files/Page9.html

It calculated a difference between the old in circumference of - 11.06 cm (!!!! Shocked !!!!!) per tire (- 4.61%)

This gives an reel speed of 95.39 km/h at 100 km/h indicated.

So at 140 km/h indicated, the actual speed is 133.55 km/h.

Also per 100.000 driven km's, i get a "discount" of 4610 km's!! since the cars odometer only indicates 95.390 km.

So is there a way to correct the cars system to the new circumference of the tires? Via board computer, or dealer software update? SW

these were not standard size fit for RRS but Disco 3 so they were an oversize to begin with, standard RRS size is 255/55/18

Looks like you have now reverted to a standard RRS size in 20's so the speedo should read ok.

4.6 percent differnce sounds about right between the 2 sizes fitted on Disco 3 and RRS which is why you cannot mix the 2 sizes on a vechicle.

I beleive their is a menu under the diagnostic mode on stat nav screen which can be changed for different sizes, this might of been done when the larger tyres were fitted
