Actually I quite liked Bali Blue, well on the LR site anyway, then I went to see one at the dealer and it wasn't what I thought.

I couldn't live with a black car, I need something that hides dirt and is a bit more colourful. So Marmaris it is.

Mrs M gave me a load of "I told you so" this evening after picking the sample in the dealer.

I sadi I needed to see a car as sometimes a colour just doesn't suit the shape, but in this case I think it does.

Thanks for the effort of uploading, I've been looking on line for two months for any sign of a vehicle in this colour.

Bali looked great in the showroom, under the lights, deep sparkley metallic blue, got it home and the family fell about saying "I thought you said it was blue! What muppet would buy a purple car?"  purple people eater

I'm suprised that he needed to call a Lex rep to the dealership for an explanation....

It's cheaper because the middle-man (I.e dealer) is not involved with a direct transaction. This saves any dealer commision plus the offset costs for the LRCH merchandising and support network (I.e the Rep him/herself).

That said, the direct deals tend to fluctuate from one month to the next depending on what capital they have employed at that time, whereas the LRCH deals tend to be consistant from one qtr to another.

If the other dealer is not competitive via Lex then unfortunately nor will we.

I don't really consider test drives to be messing the dealer about, even if you don't actually intend buying from them. At the end of the day, whilst they are franchised, they are still Land Rover's 'official' presence for us buyers so I think they have responsibilities to Land Rover as well as the franchise itself. And I think those responsibilities extend to things like test drives and providing advice, even if the dealer isn't going to benefit from a sale. After all, it's not as if there is an alternative for getting a test drive. Besides, if the dealer is helpful they may well secure the future servicing of your new vehicle.

That said, this is just how I personally view things and dealers might see it differently. However, I certainly wouldn't approach a dealer saying "I'm getting my car from someone else. Can I have a test drive?" You could say that not being open with the dealer is dishonest, but I don't really suffer any guilt from doing this, as long as I make sure I don't leave the dealer with the impression that they've got a strong lead from my enquiry.

It's worked brilliantly for us, the bag's been used in both our cars over the years, 4x4's and saloon cars. It just fits on the back seat of SWMBO's A4 Cab as well, I even managed to get it in my old E46 M3 coupe several times. The dog's actually happier in the bag than behind the dog guard, she'll often sit in the bag when it's just in the garage.

BTW, saw 2 RRS's today in the colour you're buying, both of them on AK10 plates which I think may be LR cars. Have to say, in the sunshine they looked  Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.
