Here in the USA I was phoned as a reminder for an upcoming scheduled maintenance, and then a few days after the maintenance was performed I was phoned again by an automated teller seeking input for a survey about the quality of service I received. I also received an email survey after the service. Overall quality of service varies among dealerships but I think the overall bar has been raised over here possibly due to the economic downturn which has led to dealerships that are not only less busy service-wise but also desperate to sell cars. |

I have a corporate service plan (which was offered here in Oz for MY09) which means 3 years free servicing.

Lookers in |Park Royal send you a text before your car is due in, and then they keep you updated during the service - then once picked up and ready, you get a follow up service call to check you are happy - thats good service for you! |

There's a difference between the "you're due a service" text or voice message and actual updates once they've got your car - the first is really just the dealer trying to get money out of you. Likewise, the post-service satisfaction surveys are not a "personal" thing, they're part of an automated process that is run by a third party on behalf of LR, not the dealer (AFAIK).

My experience is exactly the same as NightFox - the dealers I have dealt with have NEVER been proactive in keeping you updated on the ongoing work and estimated finishing times. They just seem to completely fail to understand that being without your car is inconvenient and forewarning is required to make alternative arrangements to be without it.

Landrover Hasselt send you a text with the details of your service appointmet the day before you go in and then during the day they update you on progress by text too. Only downside is they sometimes offer you a pushbike as a loaner

My nearby dealer offers to collect your car and drop it off within reason, picked my Navara up the other day on her way to work (Sales Manager) and dropped it off later that day, only for an Mot! fixed the number plate and all for an extra £15.00 Now thats service for you, perhaps LR dealers think they have sufficient brand loyalty to treat there customers like s**t. |
