Four new tyres fitted yesterday Yokohama Advan

First change of tyres for my MY09 TDV6. Kwik Fit and the like were about £850 for a set of direct replacements for the OEM Goodyear Wranglers. I paid £546 for a set of four 19" Yokohama Advans at an independent in West Sussex.

I had the usual experience after replacing a set of four. All of a sudden the RRS felt like a new car - better steering, stops quicker, goes round corners more assuredly. It's impossible to compare them to the OEM set, as my last memory of them was that they made the car tetchy and nervous in the wet (but that's probably because they had little tread left). Incidentally, I asked the fitter to examine the OEMs he was taking off and he said they were all still legal, but that it was about the right time to change them. Not bad for 31,000 miles.

All in all, the new Yokohama tyres look good, are quiet and give the car a great assured feel - in both the wet and the dry that I have experience in the last 24 hours. Good tyre, good price. I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

Is there a reason for you inserting the Whistle icon in your question? I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

I had Yokohama Advans fitted to my S8...In fact they were also factory fitted as standard. I thought they were brilliant having good traction in dry and wet conditions...used to get about 13000 miles between changes which for a high performance car was exceptional....I think you have made a shrewd choice Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Hi Jonty...Ok I have never been a slouch but I can't say I was altogether brutal with the car either. According to Perth Audi Yokohama made an advan tyre especially for the car and was fitted as standard...in fact it was called an advanS8 so whether the compound was different to other advans I'm not sure but the service manager assured me that he had S8's coming in for tyre changes at much less than 13000 Shocked .. what I can say is that they cost me £270 each and I agree with you gets very expensive if you do anything more than very average mileage
