SHOWROOM CAR TAX

Shocked Hi all,
I ordered my new RRS on 25 January and it should have arrived on 27 March.

I'm now being told I won't have it until at least 14 April which I am obviously not happy about (but thats another story with the dealers)

What I am wondering is with this new 'Showroom tax' that the government have introduced from 1 April, to rip us off even more than they already do, am I going to have the dealers now telling me that I have to pay £950 instead of the £400 which is on my vehicle order form?

They might have a very irate customer in front of them if they do (dealer beware) Exclamation

Any advice would be appreciated as I can't seem to find the answer on the internet.

My advise to to gently tell them that either LR or your dealer should pay the extra as it's not your fault that your car was delayed. I would guess you would have grounds to cancel the order with a full refund of any money paid if push came to shove. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Agree with VA

Order form should remain extant - if the price of say paint, tyres or floor mats suffered a sudden hike you'd be paying no more

Unfortuneately I know this doesn't help you guys now but it's worth remembering in future.
The dealer can register the car as soon as it has a VIN / Chasis number. In my case this meant that the dealer was able to register my car around the 31st December, therefore beating the rise in both VAT & LR Finance Rates! Saved me a load of £ Mr. Green The car hadn't even come off the production line at LR at this point! It's at the point of Registration & Finance that Your VAT is due NOT on Delivery. I'm sure the same would apply with the showroom tax. The dealer can also Tax a car for 1month + a week to aid this procedure.Thumbs Up 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Thanks for all your replies.

The dealer has given us a registration number already but not sure if that means its been registered yet as it hasn't even been made yet.

On the small print on the order form it of course says that 'the seller reserves the right to vary the purchase price by any amount if the cost of road fund licence, car tax or value added tax between the date of the order and the date of delivery'.

I bet Land Rover won't take into account the fact that it is them who have not delivered the car by its estimated delivery date and that its not our fault that they can't keep up with demand!!! Rolling Eyes

I'll see what the dealer has to say tomorrow I think. Whistle

Beginning to worry with these delay notices.
Mine is due next June and wouldn't appreciate a 3 weeks delay like yours,
as I have a large trip from July to Sept. 2010 TDV6 3.0 HSE Santorini Black Tan Full Leather

Don't know what you mean exactly by guarantee.
Date is mentioned on the Vista official document issued by LR factory. 2010 TDV6 3.0 HSE Santorini Black Tan Full Leather

Well, it's not an estimation, it's the official delivery date issued by factory.
Dealer asks then a few days to prepare vehicle for pick-up. 2010 TDV6 3.0 HSE Santorini Black Tan Full Leather

I've never had a confirmed date at order - normally the confirmed factory build date comes later once the factory has scheduled the build - this is normally the reason why actual dates vary from initial estimates

Am I the only one who understands it this way?
