I had this once during the winter and was initially v v worried. I drove to work and then went back to the car at lunchtime and all was fine. I don't know whether it was a result of the very cold conditions or what but thankfully it has not recurred.

ah yes, I'd forgotten all about this in my Td5... like you I just emptied the fuel filter and everything would be fine. Happy memories...
