Scotland 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 Autobiography Stornoway Grey
Sorry to be going

Well it looks like my association with my Range Rover Sport will be drawing to a premature end. After 8 weeks of it breaking down, being "fixed", breaking down etc etc with the same recurring faults in the suspension I asked the local stealer (this time it IS justified) about replacing the car as I was fed up driving Freelanders, Jag x types and another Freelander. They told me it was ready to collect yesterday but when I arrived it had 4 weeks of Sh Censoredt plastered all over it and after they washed it the full horror of the damage they had done to it became apparent!! The top of the rear bumper has more scratches than paint, Scratch in N/S rear quarter panel, scratch o N/S front door and loads of small scratches on the drivers door!! Big Cry Big Cry So 2 weeks after my original request and a letter to the dealer principle they agreed that it would be best to replace it. Right up to the point where they wanted ELEVEN THOUSAND pounds from me to replace a faulty vehicle!! As some of you know I was paid off last year so that really is NOT an option at the moment so theyve offered to buy the car back at what I consider to be a ridiculously low price so I cant afford another Sport now. Have spoken to LR Customer services but they will not get involved as my contract of sale is not with them and the stealer has yet to contact them to see if they'll make a contribution. What they told me is that LR rarely make any contribution above 1000 pounds! Whether thats true or not I dont know. All I know is I feel very aggrieved with the whole attitude of the dealer and Land Rover through this episode and yet again the customer is left out of pocket due to a faulty car.

It's been fun here with you guys and at the moment Im still waiting to see whats happening with my own car and when it comes back from the paintshop so I'll probably hang around for a while yet until I can pick up and older cheaper car with the money I get out of my RRS. Great isnt it that one minute you have a less than year old RRS and Im more than likely going to end up with a 3 or 4 year old X5 through no fault of my own other than to buy a lemon! Surely if the car was not fit for purpose (i.e. a lemon), there should be some legal protection for you to get a full refund? Really sad to hear such things and I'm kinda glad now with all the issues I'm not going for a brand new RRS.

I love the car to bits............... When its working! Problem is its been towed or driven to the dealers now around 6 or 7 times in the last 4 months!

That was why I wanted it replaced for another but it seems that the words "we need to rectify things in the interest of customer satisfaction" were pretty hollow!

All I've asked for from the dealer is what I paid for! An RRS that works! I don't think I'm being incredibly unreasonable with them. Or am I? Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

It sounds like it is fixed now, however the car has suffered some damage? Surely they will see from the handover sheet that the markes were/were not there when it went in, and should therefore fix them?

It's a real shame, if I were you I would get to the bottom of it rather than selling it. Sorry to hear your news.

James

Its been in for repair 4 times for the suspension alone and when they said I could have it back the comment was they were "fairly confident" they'd got to the bottom of it which doesn't exactly bode well when the last 3 times have yes Sir that's it 100% ready to go again and its gone on to breakdown 3 days later!!

They are fixing all the marks on it but if you'd seen the sorry looking mess it was on Wednesday I'm sure it would have mortified you too! That's now the second time the rear bumper has had to be repainted now.

Bottom line is I'm left with a car SWMBO and my Mother refuse to drive which leaves me with a lot of extra running around rather than just chucking them the keys! Also I tow with it and dread to think of the aggrevation involved if it stands up with the caravan on the back! God knows its bad enough getting a loan car from LR Assist when its just the Sport on its own! So far out of the last 8 weeks LR assist have left me carless for over a week in total!

Its not something I've taken on lightly and don't really want or need this hassle but when do you say enough is enough??

Cheers

Im my experience all dealers are as bad as each other, once they have your money they don't care.

The BMW 5 GT I bought I collected on 1st March had a scratch on the bonnet when collecting, I pointed it out and it was booked in to get repaired.

When my guy took the car in they said "here's your quote for repairing the bonnet"...........THIS WAS A BRAND NEW CAR and the damage was pointed out at collection.

It took a while of arguing until they backed down and the salesman was nowhere to be seen.

It is a Censored and something you should not have to be worrying about but I agree with James - don't sell or trade or whatever until you get the car back - damage fixed and issues fixed (hopefully). Do not sell while under pressure. I know you are angry right now but you need to minimise the $ loss.

Get the car back - see how it goes and then decide - don't let these guys beat you down - everything may have been fixed and once they get the repairs?? damage repaired it may be as good as new.

I have made some decisions in anger and later wished I'd taken a few deep breaths before acting.

If still a lemon at least it will look the goods and you should be able to get a better trade price on another vehicle with another steeler or sell privately (awful to say but then it becomes someone elses problem).

I'm waiting on delivery of my 1st RRS due in July and I hope I don't have the problems you have had.

Good luck.

This isn't something done in anger mate! I first asked about replacing it over a fortnight ago! The scratches etc were just a total sickener over and above all the other hassles I've had with it!

It just annoys me they think they can just shove me into a corner with a "take it or leave it attitude" and sweetening it just enough to make it look like they are doing me a favour! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Bit of a Censored how you have been treated 4WD Confused

not sure if it could help, but if you have legal protection on your house insurance then that might be able to step in and fight your case, worth a phone call to find out Idea

Could you not get the car back and try another dealer to see whats on offer to swap, or as close to swapping as your current situation dictates

Really sorry to hear about your woes 4WD.
I can't believe we use the same dealer as my experiences have been so much better
than yours seem to be. If you are handing the car back have you checked all your consumer rights.
speak to trading standards and the citizens abvice bureau and see what they have to say. Also,
is the car financed, if it is then the finance company may well take up your fight for a fair price.
Good Luck in the future M8 & I hope your employment situation is resolved soon. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Cheers NP and Endjin. Did speak to my solicitor yesterday who has given me ammo to fight back with so heading over just now to try and thrash sonething out face to face rather than by phone! My experience with them up to now has been great but then isn't the case nowadays that all dealers are like that till a REAL problem arises? Or am I just turning cynical in my old age? Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

glad to see your solicitor is now involved, legal speaks volumes.

Can I ask why you've not named the stealer as I personally would like to know to ensure I go nowhere near them.

Keep fighting your case, DONT take the car back until your 100% happy as to do so is acceptance, I know you say face to face is better but legal letters have to be actioned and they are recorded so theres a paper trail. Friend had similar with his and got nowhere verbally but once the lawyer stepped in it took 3 months but a brand new car was given despite their GM saying "It will never happen"

be calm and you will get further, good luck and keep us appraised Clones are people two
