Well it looks like my association with my Range Rover Sport will be drawing to a premature end. After 8 weeks of it breaking down, being "fixed", breaking down etc etc with the same recurring faults in the suspension I asked the local stealer (this time it IS justified) about replacing the car as I was fed up driving Freelanders, Jag x types and another Freelander. They told me it was ready to collect yesterday but when I arrived it had 4 weeks of Sh t plastered all over it and after they washed it the full horror of the damage they had done to it became apparent!! The top of the rear bumper has more scratches than paint, Scratch in N/S rear quarter panel, scratch o N/S front door and loads of small scratches on the drivers door!! So 2 weeks after my original request and a letter to the dealer principle they agreed that it would be best to replace it. Right up to the point where they wanted ELEVEN THOUSAND pounds from me to replace a faulty vehicle!! As some of you know I was paid off last year so that really is NOT an option at the moment so theyve offered to buy the car back at what I consider to be a ridiculously low price so I cant afford another Sport now. Have spoken to LR Customer services but they will not get involved as my contract of sale is not with them and the stealer has yet to contact them to see if they'll make a contribution. What they told me is that LR rarely make any contribution above 1000 pounds! Whether thats true or not I dont know. All I know is I feel very aggrieved with the whole attitude of the dealer and Land Rover through this episode and yet again the customer is left out of pocket due to a faulty car.

Angel I love the car to bits............... When its working! Problem is its been towed or driven to the dealers now around 6 or 7 times in the last 4 months! That was why I wanted it replaced for another but it seems that the words "we need to rectify things in the interest of customer satisfaction" were pretty hollow! All I've asked for from the dealer is what I paid for! An RRS that works! I don't think I'm being incredibly unreasonable with them. Or am I? It sounds like it is fixed now, however the car has suffered some damage? Surely they will see from the handover sheet that the markes were/were not there when it went in, and should therefore fix them?

Im my experience all dealers are as bad as each other, once they have your money they don't care.

It is a and something you should not have to be worrying about but I agree with James - don't sell or trade or whatever until you get the car back - damage fixed and issues fixed (hopefully). Do not sell while under pressure. I know you are angry right now but you need to minimise the $ loss. Get the car back - see how it goes and then decide - don't let these guys beat you down - everything may have been fixed and once they get the repairs?? damage repaired it may be as good as new. I have made some decisions in anger and later wished I'd taken a few deep breaths before acting. If still a lemon at least it will look the goods and you should be able to get a better trade price on another vehicle with another steeler or sell privately (awful to say but then it becomes someone elses problem). I'm waiting on delivery of my 1st RRS due in July and I hope I don't have the problems you have had. Good luck. |

This isn't something done in anger mate! I first asked about replacing it over a fortnight ago! The scratches etc were just a total sickener over and above all the other hassles I've had with it!

Cheers NP and Endjin. Did speak to my solicitor yesterday who has given me ammo to fight back with so heading over just now to try and thrash sonething out face to face rather than by phone! My experience with them up to now has been great but then isn't the case nowadays that all dealers are like that till a REAL problem arises? Or am I just turning cynical in my old age? Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.
