How did you buy it - if PCP / lease can you get the leasing company to fight the corner - they don't want to 'own' a lemon

Bought on the 50/50 0% through LR. Don't know if LR finance would be that willing to tackle LR themselves. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

My father in law has just got the local Jag dealer to take back his 1 year old x type and swap it for another as the alarm would randomly go off. The dealer had it in for 2 weeks couldn't find any fault but agreed the swap anyway, with £1k to pay for a newer car with half the mileage.

All I'm looking for is a car that works and that I have confidence in again. Don't mind having to put in a couple of grand to swap to 1 that does but the way sales guy was speaking I would be trading in with the usual losses that incurs! That means them wanting me to put 20k in to replace a car that doesn't work which isn't on! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

I can't give you much advice 4wheeldriver as I am in Australia and you are in UK and the laws while broadly similar will probably have subtle differences.

indeed, if the dealer is not being helpful the you get onto LR customer services and tell you want a loan car of at least the same or better, they will go for a Disco (which I was happy with) I have also had a FFRR, one time the gave me a Jag S type for 6 weeks, I told them I was not impressed with that at all! They said that's all that was available (from enterprise)! I kicked up a fuss to no avail, I then said fine I'm having an op on my shoulder and that I would not be using the car, but wife might so they paid for it to sit outside my house! Anyway LR Customer services could not move things along so I sent a huge fax to LR HQ (call and get the fax number for executive office) I then faxed almost every day for a week saying nobody had responded?? Got a call, had some heated discussions, negotiated on a price "to assist me" (that is the key term to use) into a new vehicle. Cheers Wokka. Starting to get to the end of my tether with it. Every other day its LR are sending up "X" or "Y" part to try! Operative word there is try as they don't have much of a clue I don't think what's wrong with it! The Freeby's a nice enough car in HSE spec but I paid for an RRS to drive not a Freeby! Just stopped for a coffee on my way home after about 1300 miles and my back and head are telling me it isn't quite as comfy or quiet as the Sport is!

Back in Sept my dealer principle, Mr Tobias Keller of Melbourne City Land Rover, told me that I had to come in and prove the issues existed! This was regarding issues diagnosed as existing by Land Rover Australia, and that had parts on back order from the UK to fix!
Exactly... I met with a lawyer last week to see what options are available... I now have a direction forward for my next steps! |

I had a couple of, hopefully, productive conversations yesterday with the after sales manager discussing my options with regard to the car. He was in agreement that 7 weeks is too long for a car to be off the road and he would speak to the sales manager either last night or today about the options on swapping it for another RRS which I'm quite happy to do as I DO love the car.

Phone call last night that they HOPED they'd fixed the suspension as they couldn't get it to fault yesterday BUT the sat nav/ stereo etc had now STOPPED working but they'd fixed the rocking seat (which I didn't know I had ) Fingers crossed for today people? Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.
