United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I really want to like it.... But in reality as much as I try, I don't.

I have spent far too long reading the manual (and still cannot get it to work as well as a TomTom).

Routes, estimations and usability are generally quite poor.

I keep my fingers crossed for a few updates. This will only happen if we shout about its shortcomings.

Scotland

It may be ok in large cities, but it's far less obvious in the city that it has taken you a weird route.
On the other hand when you are driving in more remote areas, where the difference between 1 route or
another can mean an extra hours drive, then believe me, you notice it's flaws. The biggest issue is in its determination to use what it considers main roads and ignore what may appear more minor routes. This is fine in high density areas but again in places like N.E. Scotland the "apparantly" minor route may be by far the most efficient. This is something that cannot be dialed out of the calculation due to the serious lack of options for setting the type of routes you wish to include or exclude. The other problem is when you know the route given is wrong and you ignore the guidance and turn on to the best route, when the systems then recalculates the route automatically it often trys to get you back onto the original route again and again, i.e. it does NOT actually completely recaculate the whole route. With my old garmin both of these issues were never a problem as it had lots of options for route planning & recalculated the whole route again from the point of your deviation. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

PPE I can input full post codes on my 10MY so presume its your setup.

I have found the Sat Nav reliable over the last 3 1/2 years in both the 07 and 10MY Sports. I also use Tom Tom in the Defender and not much between the two systems as far as getting you there is concerned. MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,

in general I find it very good with the major caveat that the ETA calculation is Censored !

i had a a VERY good experience with the traffic re-route which actually routed me away from a motorway tailback TWICE and used some pretty clever b-road routing to get me round the problem

Some really good comments and observations here.

What I would like in a Sat Nav is to be able to display a route on the screen and to be able to "pull" the marked route to the drivers preference, like you can on google maps with the purple route line.

For example, I know the way to Melbourne City. But if someone else (a staying guest) needs to find an address, I want the sat nav to take them the normal way I go and have driven them previously so that they see the same landmarks and become familiar with the route.

In short, it would be good if the Sat Nav had a "learning mode" which could then incorporate the learned route into its normal calculated directions. It must surely only be software? Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

I have to say I think it's good in London but pretty unreliable and crap almost everywhere else.

When the M1 was closed this morning by J15 Northampton it singularly failed to get me on to the A43 to rejoin at j15a. Took me all round the houses so in the end I gave up. Very frustrating.

It's a pity cos I love the car as a whole.

My MY61 wife with a map is better than the RRS Sat Nav. But the Sat Nav doesn't answer back as much. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

The RRS Sat Nav is awful, in france it would always take me down farm roads and into fields, which was a pain for my mate following me in his Boxter.

I also own a new Honda Civic which has a much superior Navteq system installed. RRS TDV8 HSE - Hybrid TV - Sunroof - Adaptive Front Headlights - Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 system
