MY10, Blackberry, Bluetooth and international phone codes

Hi All,

Does anyone else have the problem? I have a blackberry curve 8900. It works almost perfectly with my car. The only problem is that due to my constant overseas travel all my numbers in my phone book start with +44.... When someone calls me i see the name OK on my blackberry but on my RRS screen all i see is the number, not the name. I did some testing and if i remove the +44 and just store the local number it works perfectly. Am i alone?

I just thought it didn't display the name! All mine are in +44 format too. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

I'm not sure what you mean Richard?? Does it work fine on yours? Do you see the name or just the number?

Just the number like you. I had assumed this is all it ever did. I didn't realise removing the +44 would make it display the name. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

I *think* there may be a way around this but i need to take a trip overseas to test it. Blackberry have an option called 'smart dialling'. You basically tell it which country you call the most often (and the country code) and, i think, it automatically adds the country code to any number you ring that doesn't already have an international dialling code, meaning that when overseas my address book should still work with normal UK numbers. If it works the way i think it works i should be able to take all the +44 prefixes off my UK numbers and everything should be hunky dory when i'm travelling. Still - it would be much better if Land Rover's phone system just knew how to interpret a number with an international prefix.

Have you tried 0044 instead of +44

That won't work in all countries though, in America you have to dial 01144 on your mobile to get the UK. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award
