CHIP TUNING THE TDV 6

Hi everybody,

I have ordere my RRS TDV 6 SE 2 weeks ago, which i will receive here in Belgium in May.
Ordered the car with the 210bhp setting as there is €2500 put into traffic-taxes to be paid instead of the €5000 on the full 245 bhp version.
Now i was thinking to chip-tune this engine after i drove it for about 3000 kms.
Has anyone some advice or experience in this matter, and is it safe to tune it above the 245 bhp which is the standard from the constructor??
Thanks for your replies Surprised

Welkom, was just going through this exact same conversation with the step-son, he wants a D4 commercial (not available in BE) but wants it with the 3.0TDV6 and dosn't want to pay the €5000 tax either so we were looking at chipping options too. Not made any descisions yet and still waiting to get prices/build times.

Hi Guys,

Tuning is already available but be carefull. For example ziptuning.be although i don't have experience with them.
They do have a rolling road dyno though. It is better to wait a little longer and see other tuners come with their versions so you can compare prices and performance offered.

The maximum torque of the gearbox should be around 700nm.
see http://www.apra-europe.org/dateien/gallery...oducts.pdf

I dont know about the enginelife when reaching 100k km when tuned but with normal use the engine should be fine even when tuned. If you do find a tuner who will map the car on a Rolling Road Dyno then keep the Torque simular or slighlty above the 245 Hp 600 Nm version then you will be fine.

Before choosing, you should also take in to consideration, that with this relatively new engine, it is likely that you get software updates for this. Evolve and BAS remap, both offer a device with their tuning package (at least for the 2.7 version) that can bring back the ECU tune to standard before you go to a dealer, and if they have reflashed your ECU, Both Evolve and BAS can give you a new tune based on the new ECU software (FOC I thought, better ask them ). I do not see that Ziptuning offers the same, better to ask them also.

The torque rating is indeed 700nm of the new 6HP28x box, but that is for continues use, occasionally 10% above should not destruct your box. Have had a RRS SC with over 700 nm on the older ZF 6HP26x box that was only rated to 600nm, and the power was used almost continues and it proved to hold Wink. RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic

Hi

Yes a dyno is good and we always use one for final set up, but temperatures etc etc also need monitoring for long periods of time to be sure of a safe tune, which is not pratical on a dyno.

The only way to do this reliably is to have a car for a long time monitering it every day in use, or even better own a car with the same new 3.0l engine in it.

Hence why i paid over 40k for a D4 as a developement tool and have had tuning for nearly 2000 miles and still testing monitoring and adjusting before any public release.

@avos, Sadly the current BAS interface wont work on this new model due to the Anti-Tuning protection implemented by Bosch on the new ecu.
