apart from the obvious, (the fuel consumption), I reckon the HSE 2.7TdV6 will be worth much more in 2 / 3 years time than the SC. My friend only gets 9 or 10 MPG in his SC in dense urban / commute runs. The worst you will get with the diesel is 18mpg in similar driving conditons. If fuel increses in cost to 1.30 per liter in the next year or so, you wont be able to give the SC away. My opinion of course. Mr. Green If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

Java Black HSE TDV6 O7, alpaca, FF sunroof, adaptive Xenon headlights, SC grill, black privacy glass, clear indicators, tow-pack, colour-coded all black.Gone, but forever in my memory. Until my new one comes...

The clunky clattery one is only worth more to those too tight to buy proper petrol. Truth is if petrol and diesel was 10p a gallon we would all have S/C's as they are great. Thumbs Up

That's a pretty arrogant statement M8 Rolling Eyes - I for one don't give a toss about the price of the fuel. I simply can't afford to pay an extra £11,250 over the price of the 3.0 TDV6 for a 5.0 SC! It's not about being "tight" it's simply about affordability - If LR offered a petrol engined version in the same price bracket as the 3.0 TDV6 HSE then I would have definately considered it, but as it stands, the ONLY option for people that can't afford £63,295 for a car is a diesel variant! 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

i think he was referring to the two cars in question which are similarly priced

Low miles - id go for the S/C its much better spec'd but cost £90 to fill and you;ll only get 300 miles for that

High Miles - HSE but they are as slow as a week in the jail (as we say in scotland) TDV8 is a nice compromised but ur looking at another 10k for one of them.

Good luck with whatever u choose Thumbs Up

The diesels have always kept their values more than the SCs but then that's the same across the market.

It all comes down to what it costs you to a) buy it and b) run it. The diesel is obviously the cheaper choice, but if money was no object then I'm sure everyone would go for the SC... Very Happy

I think you may have taken my statement a tad too seriously! Mr. Green

Exactly right Thumbs Up If the cars are secondhand and of similar age and price, if fuel consumption matters not, then why not buy the S/C everytime?

The only good reason I can see to buy a diesel if you have a supply of red on hand..who is going to dip a Range Rover..?? Mr. Green

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Abashir, do you mean 2.7, 3.0, 3.6, 4.2, 4.4 or 5.0ltr engines beacuse all are available in HSE spec

2.7 and 3.0 are TDV6
3.6 is TDv8
4.4 is naturally aspirated gasoline V8
4.2 and 5.0ltr are Supercharged V8 gas engines

All are available as an HSE 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I filled my tank last week and it was bang on £105. I got 200miles from the that tank Embarassed

But despite that I personally would still take the S/C every time. I mean you get the extra power, less clatter, no horrid diesel smell, you don't share pumps with vans and end up with diesel all over your shoes. And when I really want to impress the bird in the shell garage I can put super in! (it does impress as long as your card goes through when paying) Whistle

But seriously...it’s not like any of them are exactly "cheap" to run is it? I would say buy the car you prefer as long as you can afford it and enjoy it. Thumbs Up

the 2 cars i am looking at are

rrs hse is 2.7 tdv6 - 06 reg
and the rrs SC is 4.2 v8
both simlarlry priced and i am leaning towards the SC

i have a bmw 750i and send a lot on petrol anyway and dont drive often
so i think i may be leaning towards the SC as the body kit is better on an sc Peace be upon you
