2010 TDV8 For Off road use (Morocoo, Tunisia, Lybia)

Hi boys and girls,

This is one of the guys from "the other site " Whistle , though i am not here to talk about myself nor the best Landy there is...

I am here on the behalf of a non english speaking friend, who (you are going to love him) took delivery of his 2010 RRS late december 2019 in its TDV8 form. He wished to use his car twice a year at least for trips on the other side of the Mediteranean sea. The rest of the year, he wants his car to be stock looking (read no RRS G4 specs)

Though it really would not be my first choice (DISCO TDV6 ! Thumbs Up ) I must admit it is really interesting to see what one can fit on it

Do you reckon RRS TDV6's sump guard, belly guard would fit the TDV8 ?

Brembos are a pain in the back, I have looked around the site and even 18's aren't up to the job, hence we are looking at fitting TDV6's brakes (Knowing potential legal flaws) then 17's

We are thinking about the following, please advice what could be better for intended use :

- Bell Auto Service Remaps with BAS Box for even extra torque

- Mantec or Djebel line (french brand) RRS TDV6 sump guard and belly guard

- TDV6 17 complete brakes

- Performance BB6 17's with either BF Muds KM2 or Coopers ST in 245 70 17 or a bit wider, got to check.

- Looking for proper height adjustable module to ride in higher setting even over 30 Mph / 50 Kmph any alternative to Matzker ?

- Service 4x4 air suspension emergency recovery kit

- Sand ladder cut to shape to fit inside boot

- air compressor, not fitted permanently

- LR rubber mats including boot

- LR seat covers LR

Any other good ideas please ?

cheers

Sump guard is the same.

Might want to think of some rock sliders to such as off roading.com do. This will protect plastic trims on bottom of the doors, they tend to get damaged quite eaisly and can the jam the door up, possibly meaning you cannot open it

Think with the brake issues better to to leave on, many run over there with 19inch and you can get all terrain fronm pirrelli or goodyear mudtyres, especially if giving it more powwr.

Guy on here went to Morrocco last year in his V8 rock sliders, sump guard fitted and normal road tyres on 19 inch wheels. Seem to remeber air filter had to be changed out there (blocked up) and probably a raised intake would help, but not if you don't want the G4 look

thanks for the rock slider idea
19 is a joke, sorry guys, but in real life sans dune there is no gimmick going and remmeber, the G4 RRS/D3 never had to go though deep mud nor hot sand at all

19 wont let you deplate that is a fact and low profils tyre for Off roading is plain mistake.

air filtering is an issue especialy since he doesn't want the mantec/ LR Snorkel

we are thinking of a home made scoop that would be bolted on an alternative LR vent in order to prevent most of sand and rain ingress

just got back from morocco and i can tell you that without snorkel / filtering device, the air box is full of sand in a matters of hours !

Echo the remarks about the sliders, also get some of the yellow clips to hold on the plastic door trim. Also the plastic air dam at the front is easily damaged as per the one seen on the left of this pic (not sure if the 2010 model has the same)

As a tempory measure you could get shortend sensor rods fitted to put the ride hight up a bit, a lot cheaper than Matzker! Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh
