News to me that they had changed to the AA, but either way what they tell you is correct - they only have to supply you with "a car". Nobody of course, reads the small print (me included) and so gets upset when they can't have a like for like replacement.

It was the AA that came out last night, checked it on the laptop then "recovered it" (he drove it over to T n C and got a lift back for his van) to the dealer. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Yet when you go to the dealers (well T n C anyway) they give you a Freelander or a Disco!

Its "Bean Counter Cancer"

I had an FL2 recovered by LRA (2008) and they stated categorically that Enterprise were contracted to supply a LR branded vehicle when availalbel.

It seems that as the bean counters force reductions in costs the suppliers reduce the product cost and then service.

Good point that our local stealer do a 4x4 hire service - surely it isnt beyond their busuness development to negotiate with mondail/LR to supply hire cars

Yep, but the transaction's between you and the dealer then - no meddling third parties involved Wink

I think Steuart64 is right - the mfrs pay to have others manage the breakdown and recovery process, but obviously that costs money and as with most companies these days, reduction in costs it high up the list of priorities.

With BMW ES, some dealers also choose to host the branded ES 5-Series Tourings that you see about the place. You're lucky if you get those guys, because they actually work for the service depts in the dealerships and work an on-call rota, so you get the same service with them (inc loan cars) as if you'd taken your car in for service (if you get decent service from your dealer, of course).

T n C just called. Its not a sensor that's wrong! Its the compressor and they're on back order! She can't tell me when I'll get 1 on the car. Could be next week or a month from now and still no word on a car! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Mine isn't the only 1 parked at T n C waiting for a compressor though Tim. They've another been sitting a week waiting now! Can't even rent 1 myself from T n C as they've been cleared out too due to the snow today!

Called Daniel at LRCR 6 times now and left 2 messages and can't get any answer from him either now!

There's no contact structure in place at all! The only person that's telling me anything are the dealer who, technically, isn't responsible since this is being done through LRA!

And to think I thought VCUK customer assistance was bad! They've a LOOOONG way to go before it gets as bad as this!!! It took them just over a day to have an XC90 up here for me and that included the guy driving it from Cambridge and getting it cleaned in Aberdeen before I got it!

Not impressed so far! Far from it!

Anybody know who the head of Customer Relations is and the address for him/her? The rep would only give me his team leader and nothing else! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

End result of all the calls and carry on today is.... I've no car for the weekend and forseeable future but Im on the waiting list for a 4x4 from those wonderful folk at Enterprise cars. So as a result I cant get to a night out tonight, lost a days fishing tomorrow, have to cancel taking Mums car to the garage on Monday (unless a car appears over the weekend) as Ive no transport to take her home after we drop hers off!! Wonder if LR or LRA would pick up taxi fares in lieu of the hire car??

HAve done a letter to LR about this whole shoddy service but have to say that Karen at T n C has been outstanding!! Shes kept me informed, called Enterprise to find out the situation, tried to find a car from their own stock to give me and generally been an angel. The people at LRA could take a leaf out of her book in regards to customer service. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Had this issue with Enterprise the last few Censored Censored times my old RRS was seen to by LRA. Got them sorted the last time as I got them to deliver the Vauxhall Astra Exclamation to me at one of my work locations and they had problems delivering as it accessed down a lane with filled with potholes and deep pools of water which is why I drive a 4x4. They said they cound't deliver the car so I complained to LR and lo and behold a Disco materialised Rolling with laughter Long suffering RRS Owner, but I can't help it!

Best laugh of the day! After being told all day today that Enterprise has NO availability on 4x4s at any location lo and behold I had a look at their website and they have availability on 2 types of 4x4 at their airport location here in Aberdeen!

Called LRA and they're away to get some little scrote out of his bed to find out why they haven't offered me 1 from there!

The wonders of t'internet! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Well after about 10 calls to LRA, 8 to LRCR, 4 to T n C to ask for my own car back and 3 to Enterprise there's a Freelander arriving around 12 today!

Even T n C have been nipping Enterprises head about it all!

Now here's another under the " bunch of lying barstewards" heading!

The compressor is on back order now LRCR told me yesterday that there would be 1 at T n C with their Monday delivery! T n C don't GET a Monday delivery!!! Their estimated date for delivery is the 15th Feb!! 14 day discrepancy there!

Enterprise also need the "Mickey Mouse Ears" award! If, as I did this morning, you book a car through the website, it will confirm it by email with a reservation number, BUT, when you get there to collect it there might not be a car for you! It confirms the booking REGARDLESS OF THERE BEING A VEHICLE FOR YOU!! Some "live" booking service that!

This whole episode has been a real eye opener into how LR do business! If it wasn't for the fact I love the car and this is the 1st time its let me down I'd be rethinking my ownership if this is to be the carry on if it breaks bown again!

Perhaps in the "Dealer Feedback" there should be 1 for LRA too! Mind you the site would be probably be closed for the amount of swearing that would be on it
! Should also add that the manager I spoke to from LRA a half hour ago confirmed that the only LR technician in Scotland is in the Edinburgh/Glasgow area! Everybody else gets an AA patrolman unless there are extenuating circumstances!

Roll on getting the Sport back!! Big Cry Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Once you get your own car back you receive a customer satisfaction survey (at least CHPR and Morrison's Land Rover always send me them) - you get to write what you like about LRA and the service you received at the dealership the car was fixed by. My suspicion is 90% of owners just throw these in the bin........................... and then whinge like f Censored about poor service when they were given the opportunity to comment. I always complete them - there's now reason why you cannot give praise on the form too if it's due. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Agree 100% MAW.

Today's AA isn't even the AA we used to know and love, it is now a way of keeping Centrica shareholders dividends high. It has turned from being a service to members to being a "profit centre" for Centrica 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
