Only had the car a couple of days so appologies if this has been posted before.

Returned home this evening and lowered the car to access height. Got out and shut the door and started to walk away when the air released and the back dropped more. Is this normal as its the first time it has happened?

Very normal don't worry.......does it I think when in access or normal........

It vents the pressure.
It is alledged that if you park the car in access mode all the electronics also go into "sleep" mode, saving your battery. Leaving it in Normal height keeps the electronics "awake" ready to drive off. I nearly always park in access mode and have never noticed any delay while the car "wakes up"! Ok but wouldnt this drop the extra bit every time? I always put it in access mode as the mrs is only 4'10'' and would have to parachute out if not but this is the first time its done it?

It doesn't do it every time. If you have the Adaptive Bi-Xenons they do a little dance when you switch them on and sometimes when you are stopped in traffic at night you will see the ordinary Bi-Xenons doing a self-levelling check dance! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It's also possible that you opened the door to get out before the car had fully settled into access mode. In that case, it would stop lowering until you closed all the doors, and then resume.

Few months ago I almost bought my self a RRS but the car wasn't in good shape so I have passed this opportunity. But I'm following this forum and still hopping to find a nice one.

Therefore one similar question - another cars with air suspensions (Touareg, Ml) don't have that "access mode" don't they? And you don't need to "lower" them (if not used fo a while) in order to keep their batteries safe? Or I'm wrong? Why is that necessary in RRS and not in other brands? What could happened if you wouldn't put your RRS in "access mode" when you are at work? Woul you find a dead battery?

P.S. I'm not favorizing Toureg or Ml, I'm still buying a RRS, it's just seem to me that some techical aspects of RRS are...hm..unusual.

A newbie myself so I may be wrong but I believe it's only an issue if they are not left in access mode when left parked for a long period like a couple of months.

When the vehicle is parked, the air suspension control module 'wakes up' two hours after the ignition was last switched off and then once every six hours. The vehicle height is checked and if the vehicle is not level within a pre-set tolerance, small downwards height adjustments may be made automatically.

Thus BIG DJ is right - if you leave your car in on-road mode for a long time, the above automatic adjustments will tax your battery. No need to worry during your day to day use.  Malaysia Boleh!

Thank you for your answers. So, there is no need to worry - over the night and if car is not used for day or two (or more) use the access mode, else it's safe to leave it in normal mode.

Now I just have to find one
