not sure about the tech side of things but i know a guy that does mileage correction (for a 'living') and he told me the easy/quick way to tell on most cars (without running diagnostics) is to actually look at the screw heads that keep the dash in place. you can usually tell when a screws been tampered with, and in most cases there is no reason to remove that part of the car. I did once view a car and used this method (it was an mgf back in the day) and i could see where the black screw heads (alan key type iirc) had been tightened (slight indents and colour loss) needless to say i didnt buy it. Not sure if this applies to the RRS? |

If it's making you have doubts about the car I'd stay well clear!! No matter how well the discrepancy is explained by the dealer, If there is a mileage discrepancy on the car's experian / HPI report when you come to sell, then it is going to put a significant amount of potential purchasers off. But hey, that's just my 2p's worth!! 57 plate TDV8, Java Black, Factory Tints, Sidesteps, |

I'm normally pretty good with judging a vehicle, if I get a gut instinct then I will walk away, but with this everything seems fine apart from the dicrepancy, and yes, I have thought about when it comes time to re-sell. Have actually e-mailed the dealer in question and asked if it would be possible to ammend their records to avoid this in the future, they are looking into it. |

Big Mart it is quite possible that the previous owner only had the car for 18 months and covered only a small milage, 15,000 miles service is after all supposed to be carried out after 12 months OR 15000 miles which ever comes first! My own car has well below average miles yet has just had the 30000 miles service stamp put in it's book - it had 20000 miles on it at 24 months old. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it 2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced 2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW |

i had my 1 year service on the second RRS (black) whilst on a cherished plate at a local dealer - their service records pulled up the first RRS (on the cherished plate) and the job card showed 44ish,000 miles and it correctly being silver - no one spotted that until i collected it and was told the warranty work was being quoted for

Volvo are as bad Maw. When Mums car goes for warranty they can never find the car by its cherished number and have to keep giving them the original number even though the plates been on for well over a year now and been in 3 times!!! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Is it possible to get info. from DVLA about previous owners, that way at least I could contact them and ask about mileage. ( I think I'm starting to get a bit paranoid ). |

There are plenty of used RRS's out there, if you are not 100% happy with this one, walk away. Often your first doubts about something like this turn out to be correct! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I know that the market is full of secondhand RRS's, but seeing as I want a 1st edition in vesuvius, and this is a nice one it 's a shame that there's a bit of a glitch.

Sorry I didn't realise this was a 1st Edition car in the most desirable colour - you are right to be concerned although IIRC they are not worth any more than any other 2005 S/C, apart from the Vesuvius because there were only something like 100 produced in this colour for worldwide distribution. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
