Stubborn locking wheel nut ***update with pic's***

Can't get my front locking wheel nut off, the silver part of the locking wheel nut just goes round and round. Any advise how to remove,???? had a road side repair guy have a go and he said it was to big for the reverse thread wheel nut remover he had, So is there a tool I can buy to get it off or is there some other way????? Or will I have to take it to the L R dealers
As you can see I have tried to drill, even with a hardend drill bit, and a socket tool wouldn't fit in the hole? so the only other way is maybe weald??? or give in and take to L.R.
pleae help ....
Up date*** All Done*** see pic's........

All done Yippi ...the local garage did well, they welded a pointed bar to the cap, then moving from side to side broke the end cap off, then they welded a bolt to the end and undid it, "JOB DONE"

Usual options in this situation are:

hammer a smaller size socket onto it

weld another nut to it then take it out

drill it out

I personally am extra careful i dont tighten the locking nut to much. That way it comes off without any hassle everytime.

Good luck , most garages should be able to do the above Thumbs Up WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

Might be stating the obvious but do you have the correct locking nut? 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

In the past I rounded off the locking nut adapter edges due to not fitting the wrench fully so it kept spinning off under the slightest off pressure it was cheaper to buy a full set of new locking bolts than just the locking nut Rolling Eyes

Have you tried using an impact driver? Definitely worth a go as I have had similar issues in the past and it the only thing that will work! Just ensure the alloy key is in the right place before you strick the driver!

Can be bought from Halfords or similar stores, Good Luck.

Sounds like a good simple Idea that may even work!! I need to push as well as turn the wheel nut, an Impact driver may just work coz I would be able to do this and the vibration may well undo it.

Thanks for the advice DASHAERDABLO1

Will try before I take to L.R.......K11ngc Stephen Hughes

THIS TYPE OF TOOL WOULDN'T FIT OVER THE LOCKING WHEEL NUT TOP PART ( SEE PIC) COZ OF IT TURNING ROUND AN ROUND,AND IT ALSO HAS A FLANGE AROUND IT LEAVING LIMITED ACCESS. HENCE NOT EVEN A SLIGHTLY SMALLER SOCKET TOOL WOULDN'T FIT IN THE HOLE.

But thanks anyway....Mail order ride Stephen Hughes

Well went to a local garage and used their impact driver, and ....... it didnt work unfortunatly. just spun round!

So it's booked in at local Garage, they are going to drill the cap off and then weld a nut to it through a tube or something?

Will keep you all informed of progress and cost.
