MY10 Fuel Burning Heater (FBH)

I assume that the MY10 model still has an FBH fitted as standard and that it is only the
"remote" activation of it that you have to spec as the "park heat" option?

Can anyone confirm this? 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

Endjin, I have posted that question elsewhere on the forum this afternoon, it seems odd to me that on the price list it states "includes Fuel Burning Heater" yet for emissions purposes there should already be one there! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

OK that solves that mystery - thanks guys. It's just that the 2010 pricelist makes it appear that there is no FBH on 2010 cars if you are speccing the Park Heat option. Does anybody who has Park Heat care to take a look and see if their car has 2 FBH's, one for emissions reduction in cold weather and one for the Park Heat system? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Only one FBH. I think the plumbing is different with park heat. IIRC the park heat works between +15 to -20. Above +15 if you use the park heat it blows fresh air through the vents to help ventilate the car before you get in. Between the top and lower temp range the park heat - heats the passenger compartment prior to starting engine. Once you start the car the park heat switches over and the FBH works as normal as long as outside temp is below +5. Below -20 the park heat - heats the engine first rather than the passenger compartment prior to starting.

Park heat / ventilate only comes on if programmed to or the remote is used.

Not sure from a technical point how the passenger compartment remains warm after the engine has started and the FBH is warming engine when outside is below +5. Obviously the heater matrix is hot from the park heat but will lose the heat quite quickly without hot water from the engine. Presume water continues around the heater matrix and FBH whilst another water circuit heats the engine, only mixing the the two circuits once similar temps are reached. Thumbs Up cheers for the info. I was asked the other day if the FBH could be fitted to an S/C, my reply was I doubted it very much - would require a second fuel tank for a start! But I wouldn't want what is in effect a contained fire, burning under the bonnet of a petrol engine! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim - My reason for the question was as a result of noticing exactly the same wording

Well Endjin, jat least we know there is at least one FBH under the bonnet............. I wemt down this route with my first RRS, there wasn't even ONE FBH there when there should have been! It became a retro fit, but only if you knew about it and complained to the dealer about how cold the car became in winter. There must still be a few 2005 cars out there without them because the owners were not aware that there should have been one from day one! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yes for all UK spec cars as it forms part of the cold weather emissions reduction kit. Both TDv6 and TDv8 have it, Supercharged do not 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Is there an upgrade to the FBH available or is it standard with the remote function? The mrs was very keen on this as an option.

At least for my 07 there wasn't an option from LR available, it would only function to hear the coolant. There are possibilities to add a remote, as that will at least give you the ability to heat the car before you use it. It also seems that Webasto (the maker of the fbh), has a module where it can also control your blowers in the car, and making it thus a normal Park heater (only for pre my10 so far). Will get this one in a week or 2, when it will be warm again Laughing RRS SDV6 HEV Dynamic

Looks like the Park Heat may have a technical problem.

Have noticed that first thing in morning when outside temp is below +5 the park heat works well. If used again later that day and outside temp is above +5 park heat does not seem to warm the cabin. Can hear it doing something but not heating the interior. Spoke to LR and they have a technical bulletin out for the Park Heat, not sure what the bulletin says but they are making enquiries and will get back to me.

Anyone on here heard of an issue with the park heat besides the alarm going off ! MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,
