I'd say don't do it! I love the E70 3.0SD. The only reason I didn't get one was because the lease prices were quite a bit more than the RRS especially once you bought it up to the same spec. If your bored of the car get it remapped by someone like Evolve or DMS and you will have a monster of a car. I had the same engine in the 335d Couple which I had remapped and its a superb engine. Still a remapped TDV8 or 5.0 Supercharged will give it a run for its money. Which model were you looking at? Unless it is the latest FY10 RRS you would be disappointed with the interior.

I do love my RRS though, if you do get one I'm sure you will love it too Cool WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

I am guessing that i will need to get a hse i am looking to buy a rrs for delivery March/April time. I have already had the x5 chipped and yes i will admit that is very quick now. The main reason for the change is that i have 3 kids have already had to x5 and still need to replace it with a suv no people carrier for me

I loved my X5 too mate and took me while to decide on the RRS, but it had to be the TDI V8 to be in the same league as the X5 whic was already chipped. I sent the tunit box to get it remapped for the RRS and I have to say the performance is very good.
It's the sound the RRS makes, a true V8 rumble and no hint of the oil burner clatter at all and so quiet and smooth in side.
the X5 was a hoot to drive but the RRS is always goos to drive fast or slow.

Go for the RRS you won't regret it. 2010 Alaska white 3.6TDi v8, heated steering wheel, Ipod connection, Aribica extended leather, Digital TV, voice activation, privacy glass, Dynamic pack

If your local dealer is Roger Young you'll have no regrets. Good advice and service.

Never had an X5 so can't compare but on my second Sport and still no regrets.

The Sport is not an X5 and as long as you appreciate the difference you want be disappointed !

Before you decide on a V8 try the new 3.0l great engine. MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,

2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black

is it the new X5 or the old one? i had the new one for 3 weeks a while back and loved it, especially things like heads-up display showing the mph on the windscreen Smile

i preferred the interior finish of the BMW to my RRS (TDV8 HSE) and it accelerated faster (it was the 3.0L sd SE)

the ACC (adaptive cruise control) on the RRS is a godsend and wasnt available on the BMW - i found the standard cruise control harder to use too on the X5

driveability wise the RRS just beats the X5 for me, seems to be slightly more firmly planted and generally more fun to drive (albeit a little less potent than the X5)

useability wise the RRS feels a lot bigger in terms of boot space and is definitely more comfortable to ride in

I used to prefer the look of the (new) X5 to the RRS but this has now changed Smile and I definitely think the RRS is more a premium image that the Beemer (yes yes footballers wives noted but I do feel more special in the RRS)

overall I would say.... do it!! The X5 has plenty of problems too (google it) so maybe you've been lucky? My RRS has been good as gold so far (57 plate) other than an issue with the air suspension which doesnt actually impact me, I just want it fixed under warranty as a point of principal

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I hate to say this but if you have to have loadsaroom SUV then a Disco4 HSE might be worth a look too. It comes with tons of toys as standard and is less expensive than the RRS with more room. Ride is as good but maybe a little more body roll than RRS. RRS is after-all a Disco3/4 in a party frock on a shortened chassis, it isn't a Range Rover based car. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I was thinking the same thing. D4 has got to be a better bet for a large family. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

Hi,

I had an '05 Plate X5 4.4i Sport from new which I had for 2 years as a 'work-car'. I put 80,000 miles on it in 2 years & only had to take it to my local Dealer once with a problem (fixed under warranty).

At the time I liked it so much - we sold the wife's ML & bought her a '55 Plate 3.0i Sport which was a demo-car. She still has this & (touch-wood!) it is now just over 4 years old & have not had one complaint with it.

Personally - I do not like the newer shaped X5's. They look to me to be 'an oversized X3' as opposed to a large SUV 4x4 - which I think the earlier shape pulled off much better.

Obviously - 1 advantage to you of having the X5 is that you can have seats in the 3rd row fitted - which you can't in the RRS - but could obviously consider another vehicle in the range to accommodate this.

Now this is where I opted for the RRS - it looks like a proper 'chunky' 4x4 a man would drive (yes I'm also aware footballer's wives tend to drive them!) - which I don't think the new shape X5 achieves. Having done 4K miles now in my RRS - it also feels like a luxury car as far as the ride + interior goes. The interior of the new X5 is too '5 series' for me I have to say.

I would consider buying a new-shape X5 for the ball'n'chain when the time comes - as the build quality/reliability is there + the diesels are a greeat engine - but I will stick to the RRS as I have to say I love it!

Good luck with the decision & let us know which way you go!! '10 Jaguar XKR Coupe 5.0L Supercharged.
