the one I have is yellow and it has shackle clips on either end. Can't remember where I bought it but it was certainly in a car accessory shop like Halfrauds or some such place. If you see a bandwagon - it's too late.....

Loads on ebay - just wondered what material and loading to go for - thinking 3T enough for most things (like another RRS) for example |

If it is from a car accessory shop then I wouldn't use it to tow any Land Rover as it won't be strong enough. For about a tenner you can get a 3,4, 5 or 8m long nylon strops that have an eye in each end with an SWL of 10tonnes and come with a test certificate.

Spot on Tim thanks - all i have found so far on ebay were lower rated - a lot were the poly prop looking rope ones, found one similar to yours only rated at 3333lbs though - i may just go for that one in your link |

Oh God, I can just hear the horrendous scrapping noise as the poor Freelander was dragged along the road on it's roof |

I once did something similar - moved a couple of crashed motorbikes off the road as they were blocking the traffic and potentially the ambulances on the way to the injured - and could have caused another accident as they were on a corner.

Can recommend the above 'Handystraps' have used them a number of times as their local. Good service and the straps are tested and certified. Prices are also very reasonable. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Emergency-Recovery-T...19b332d3bb (15,000lbs is about 6.8 tonnes) Also worth checking the price of their shackles http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SWL-4-75-tons-Galvan...53da1c5663 very cheap but again postage is expensive due to weight. Might be worth a group buy as they will give good discounts. Think I paid about £2.50 for some 4.75 tonne shackles ! If anyone interested I can get prices. Postage is a pain but I am heading up to Midlands on Saturday for 4 days this week so can arrange to meet in the area. There is also this guy if there are enough people interested in a group buy. He will practically make what ever you want although the price will depend on it being 1 of a kind or several. Have used the slings on this page for towing before. http://www.tonybeal.com/lift.htm Although the pic has closed loops at both ends there are different eyes and shackles that can be fitted. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

There is always a 12tonne 5m strop under the back seat of my car and a selection of shackles in the boot, I also keep a small folding shovel under the seet too. I also carry a 12V compressor incase I have to adjust the tyre pressures. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh
