Australia 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

Hi Bobby, I manged to get the following fault codes from the dealer today:

P0195 - apparently something to do with the P shift position circuit
P0806 - apparently something about the clutch position sensor circuit

Do either of these make any sense? and if so, are they related at all to the transfer case or a possible cause of it being stuck in low-range?

Cheers, 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey with Alpaca premium leather, Adaptive cruise, Adaptive Bi-xenons, sunroof, Premium Nav, Premium ICE Logic 7, telephone, active locking rear diff, console coolbox, seat memory, powerfold mirrors, tow pack, window tint, dual battery, engel fridge, Goodyear Mud-Terrain tyres.

Hmm...

OK. I don't have a vast library or anything but from my records, P0806 is related to the Rear Drive Axle and Differential!:

P0806-00 Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

• Mismatch of actual and expected/calculated actuator position. Internal differential actuator error.

Calibrate the clutch and range change mechanism using the approved diagnostic system.
If the problem persists, renew the differential actuator.

P0195 I cannot find, sorry.
However, there is a

P091500 :

Gear Shift Position
Circuit Range/Performance

• Gear shift position sensor
circuit short circuit to ground
• Gear shift position sensor
circuit high resistance
• Gear shift position sensor
failure

Refer to the electrical guides and check the gear shift position sensor circuit.

Hope the above helps. Smile Malaysia Boleh!

Wholeheartedly agree 640, Land Rover Australia, and a some of the dealers, don't seem to know their ar Censored from the elbow when it comes to Land Rover Products! Shocked

I'm not an engineer, but am I missing something - If the error codes are pointing towards the listed sensors, why is the dealer replacing the transfer box?

I shouldn;t be so surprised.... considering my car had a faulty steering angle sensor, I never asked them why they replaced the steering rack. Or when they replaced the entire steering column why didn't they replace the steering angle sensor at the same time.. the list goes on... Rolling with laughter

Please gentlemen,

I am no engineer, mechanic or LR affliated.
Been driving LR vehicles for donkey years now and owned every model till a couple of years back! Laughing

I know how it feels to get some help/encouragement/tips etc., especially from forum members like here - I received lots of encouragement when i first joined. Smile

Anyway, just trying to be helpful. I don't know everything but whatever information I have, I will share. Most of the time its guesswork actually. Wink Malaysia Boleh!

Bobby, your input is truly magnificent! Thumbs Up

If you were only helping those who were maintining their own cars, or with 3rd party garages that would be one thing.. But you are providing invaluable assistance to owners of cars stil under manufacturers new warranty because some of the official main dealers (and thier so called "factory trained" technicians) clearly have limited idea on how to maintain and fix the products they are licensed to sell!

Keep it up mate! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Bow down

Might just be a coincidence but in the 2 days since sending my letter to the National Customer & Technical Support Manager at LRA, I have received 3 phone calls and 4 emails, the last of which stated that they had fixed my car and would be ready for collection tomorrow, subject to a final test drive.

I don't have any detail yet about what the fix was as I got the message after hours, but they indicated it was something to do with 12v going into one of the control modules but only 9v coming out the other side.

I'll post again tomorrow to advise (1) whether I did actually get my car back and (2) more details about the actual fix (assuming it is fixed Shocked ) 2008 TDV8, Stornoway Grey with Alpaca premium leather, Adaptive cruise, Adaptive Bi-xenons, sunroof, Premium Nav, Premium ICE Logic 7, telephone, active locking rear diff, console coolbox, seat memory, powerfold mirrors, tow pack, window tint, dual battery, engel fridge, Goodyear Mud-Terrain tyres.
