do all models have satnav?

They do now. I think that started from Model Year 09 onwards. I'm fairly sure the lower models didn't have from 2008 backwards. I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

Before, SatNav was an option on SE Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

Gone: Range Rover Vogue '11 4.4TDV8, Range Rover Sport ‘59, Range Rover Sport ‘56

Why would anyone want the satnav?

It is absolutely rubbish irrespective of the settings. Supposed to be a 'premium' system - God forbid what the standard version is like.

Biggest issue is you cannot ask it to find the centre of a town, for example; you want to go to Oxford for a day out and don't have any address or postcode. You want to be able to ask for the 'centre' and then you can find a parking space when you get there, but no option. The other thing is the route you will take will be nothing like the route you would normally travel, talk about the longest most out of the way route and that will fairly close to the mark.

I now take a good old fashioned map with me, far far better. Can't turn it off either and have to answer that stupid question every time, why why why ? ? ?

I've always been very happy with the sat nav - If you want a centre of a town simply use the touch screen to select. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Ill second that. The sport satnav is one of the better ones ive used .

Im pretty sure if you click POI type in town oxford it will list all the associated POI in the town and you can pick where you want to go which if your going for a day out bowling/cinema/tourist attraction should fit the bill. Atleast get you easily into that area of the town. Also find a carpark if available  WINNER - 2008 Best All New Photograph

yep....RRS sat nav is good imo

The car sat Nav is faster than f.e. Tomtom. It also works in the tunnel and locate me immediately. And it looks better if it's build-in. (And it has a compass)
Con: you can't change the interface etc...

Personally think the LR/Jag Sat Nav is brilliant..........more than I can say for the Merc / BMW ones. As an analogy, the LR version is the iPhone version whereas the Beemer / Mucky Benz is very Nokia 3109C  L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

ive had Volvo, BMW and Audi all with their shat nav fitted and always had to carry my Tom Tom just in case but went off touring with the caravan in the summer and as usual took Tom in the boot "just in case" and never had to dig him out yet. JLR sat nav took me to nearly the door of every site I visited and all the other places we wanted to go to as well. Estimated time of arrival could be improved as it changes depending to your speed whereas Tom Tom use average speed based on the roads you're routed for! Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Pardon my ignorance, but that means what ?

Will try the POI and touch screen next time, the Merc screen does have a 'centre' option and the routing is far better, still not as good as looking at a map though.

Never been impressed with satnav TMC is the best bit - when it bothers to pick it up.

Read The Manual. Most functionality is explained very well in there.

Seems YOU are much better off with a map. Then you can direct your ire towards the Ordnance Survey when things don't quite go to plan.

Nice to see how much you know about me, the good old map has never failed to find my destination whereas the premium sat nav cannot locate streets that you end up on

What I did suggest was that rather than ranting without reason about a system that does its job perfectly well, but doesn't seem to meet your particular set of exacting requirements, that a quick trip around the manual might benefit you.

The satnav is not foolproof and neither is the one in your Merc, or in any other system come to that.

I wish you all the well with your map though, when it's dark, pouring with rain and you are lost
