OK now taken a couple of photos and checked (as far as getting a little finger in the hole!) and there doesn't appear to be a captive nut or anything threaded to tighten the bolt into. Anyone got an idea how this is supposed to tighten?

Had the self same thing on my TDV8 noticed it when I checked the oil after its first 600 miles, word of warning if not sorted asap, the tube will lift out from the block and you will start to smell oil fumes around the front of the car BTW I did try to sort it myself but it requires the correct bush and nut assembly. My quick fix was a couple of cable ties

Thanks for the warning. I've been doing a little more research and wondered if it's actually one of these that effectively work like a rivet
