Day Running Lights on 2010 model

Suposedly my new 2010 HSE has day running lights.
However they were not switched on when i purchased it.
The dealer has played around with the dealer settings and can only get front side, dip and rear on at once.
Any ideas?

I really do hope they can be deactivated by the dealer, should they be on as standard SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

If its anything like the BMW crapdrive system, it will be a setting somewhere in the menus.

I think from conversations though (and very rarely I can be wrong) they are not driving lights (yet). They are purely side lights.................I could be wrong.

I think someone said recently that there will be a future software update to turn them on as day running lights in 2011/2012 ish when it becomes an EU legal requirement Question TDV6 - gone

As I understand it, you can set DRL via the workshop PC (IDS) but it will be dipped beam, LED and rears. As Josh says, I'm also led to believe that when it becomes a legal requirement that there will be a new IDS setting for front LEDs only.

Sadly it's not configurable via the driver info module.

It is a shame the LED front lights cannot be daytime running lights without the dipped beam! Is there no way the dealer cannot set just the fronts to come on at start up as they are pretty cool.

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) use the full intensity low beam headlamps which are permanently illuminated when the vehicle is being driven. DRL are used in a number of markets and there are two systems to cover these markets.

DRL CANADIAN MARKET

DRL for this market use full intensity low beam headlamps. The side marker lamps, tail lamps and license plate lamps will be on, but instrument cluster illumination will be off. DRL are active when the following parameters are met:

*Parking brake is off on vehicles with manual transmission or PARK is not selected on vehicles with automatic
transmission
*Ignition switch is in the ignition position (II)
*The Central Junction Box (CJB) receives an engine running signal
*The lighting control switch is in the off or side lamps position.

NOTE:
If the lighting control switch is moved to the headlamp position, DRL are deactivated and normal side lamp and
headlamp functionality is operational.

NOTE:
Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) (where fitted) is non-functional when the DRL are active.

NOTE:
When DRL are active, the headlamp flash function using the left hand steering column multifunction switch will operate normally. The high beam headlamp function using the left hand steering column stalk switch will be deactivated.

When the parking brake is applied on manual transmission vehicles or the selector lever is in the PARK position on automatic transmission vehicles, DRL are turned off. This is to reduce battery discharge during long periods of engine idling in cold climate conditions. When the parking brake is released or the selector lever is moved from the PARK position, normal DRL functionality is restored.

DRL DENMARK, HOLLAND, NORWAY, SWEDEN, FINLAND & POLAND

DRL for these markets use full intensity low beam headlamps. Side lamps and license plate lamps will be on, but instrument cluster illumination will be off. DRL are active when the following parameters are met:

*Ignition switch is in the ignition position (II)
*The CJB receives an engine running signal
*The lighting control switch is in the off position.

NOTE:
When DRL are active, the headlamp flash function using the left hand steering column multifunction switch will operate normally. The high beam headlamp function using the left hand steering column stalk switch will be deactivated.

If the lighting control switch is moved to the side lamp or headlamp positions, DRL are deactivated and normal side lamp and headlamp functionality is operational.

Bosnia Herzegovina

Just switched DRL two days ago. There are three options: Canadian, Scandinavian and Poland DRL. Since it is a legal requirement in Bosnia to have dipped beam on at all times, went for Scandinavian option. Agree with SilverspeedRRS, LED should be daytime lights only. RRS TdV6 MY2010
