Door handles are big job.Just had mine done by the dealer says he will never do it again.New door handles are touch sensitive and they had to follow the wiring loom back to behind the dashboard to remove each one.Took 8 hours to take off and 8 to put back! Labour cost £100 an hour. Work that one out.I asked why they didnt just cut the wires and resolder and they said if there were any electrical problems the warranty would be void.
Mine is white so it had to be done may get a way with it in black. NEW RRS WHITE TDV8 1 OF 1

I think colour coding in general looks better than not.

In certain colours and if too many parts are colour coded, I think the overall effect can be 'too plasticky' if you know what I mean.

Definately leave the roof pillars for the floating roof effect, and I'd probablyleave the rear scuff plate.

Some non colour coded parts can give a contrast effect to the main bodywork colour, standard cars have too much matt or grey parts.

Again some colours lend themselves to coding better than others.

But each to their own, life would be boring if we all liked the same things.

that sounds like a nightmare job, and a bit of a pointless setup from LR's point of view.

What's the touch sensitive functionality, I take it that's why the handles wired to the loom?

Or is it a part of the alarm system, making the handles live.

Would increase repair costs, if a new door was required, and it took an hour just to disconnect the handle never mind remove the door card, door seal, external trim and finally the door.

It's the comfort access option - You get close with your key in your pocket and the doors unlock when you touch the underside of the handle...

Ahh, makes sense I suppose.

Sounds like a nice Premium feature, a good upgrade for the RRS.

But not sure I would spec that option, sounds like something to go wrong. I've had numerous electrical problems with mine, wouldn't want to create the potntial for more. I'd settle for unlocking with the key.

If it's as reliable as the BMW version - steer well clear. And it's not so premium any more either - a mate's company Astra does the same thing, it even has a start/stop button!

Hmm, it's very much looking like a stay clear on the handles then - even from a costing POV, let alone the potential for it to go wrong. Think I will see what the dealer says, and then take it from there - I'm waiting on the quote for the full lot.

Not sure if the handles are the same on all models.mine is TDV8 and I think its standard.May be TDV6 is option.So if you havent got the comfort access option no probs with colour coding.Have a look at the difference of colour coded or not on this link

Handles are the same per model, they only differ if you spec the comfort access - but from the outside they look the same.

Comfort access - good question. I am assuming it has, it's the S/C I'm getting, and I don't recall being asked to tick this when I spec'd up originally - although I have taken one already in the system to get the 360deg cameras.

Will check up on this.

I had my the pillars done, A, B and C.....the lower sills front and back, mirrors, handles, Sat Nav aerial, even the headlight washers at the front - only thing I should not have done is the steel trim on the running boards - still think the car is better colour coded
