Do what you will with your internal network infrastructure, the fact remains he doesn't have a WAN-side port that can do 100Mb - this is his problem I'm presuming you'll need some sort of wideband modem between your house network and the ISP that can support the full 100Mb that's being provided to you. This is what makes it difficult, there aren't that many about....

i think its not the switch - more like the router cause before i had 32mbit cable connect arriving properly at my comp through router switch dispatch.......

only the 100 mbit connect doesn't arrive at my comp best i had was 50mbit through router switch dispatch.....

but as mentioned at the beginning if i connect the modem directly to the dispatcher ----------> comp it got the full thing

I will say this with the caveat that it is probably completely wrong, as Schmoogle sounds like he knows what he is talking about.

But do you need the router in your setup?

If you have just the cable modem to the switch doesn't this give you full bandwith at all cat5 outlets?

As is said above, I don't really know what I'm on about, I had all the cabling installed and didn't bother finishing the network sockets and switch.

What Angel's saying is that now that he has 100Mb cable from his ISP (as opposed to our cruddy "up to 8Mb" ADSL) that he doesn't get that all the way through to his PC on his desk. The bottleneck is presumably his existing cable modem.... so what he needs is a new cable modem that will cater for the 100Mb that is presented to it.

Most people in the UK have no experience of this as there have/are only limited trials going on at this speed so far. To that end, the only cable modems I've found that support 100Mb on the WAN port are the Linksys that was mentioned earlier and a couple of Arris models....

Franky - I don't want to hand out bad advice, so really I'd be going back to the ISP and saying "hey, where's my 100Mb you promised me?"

I thought haveing a switch/patch panel would negate the need of the router. That bit was confusing me also.

But I am easily confused.

I explain it again:

when i connect the new cable modem (provided by provider) --> dispatcher --> my comp i get the full 100mbit !

But when i connect it to cable modem --> router --> switch/dispatcher - i got only max. this:



before with the 32mbit connect i got always the full 32mbit even through router switch/dispatcher and then comp...

thats why i guess that the damn router just cant handle more than the 32 mbits or 40 mbits.....

Sorry mate, I must have missed the previous bit... so what is your router doing, do you not provide service into your CAT5 network from the dispatcher? i.e. so service appears at all the wall sockets in your rooms as long as they are patched at the panel?
