is that the Continental Sport Contact that is rubbish? They dont seem to be that badly rated online at a few sites (though that doesnt mean too much).

8k and the wear was terrible.... LR quoted "its not a sports car and I must driving it round roundabouts to hard" Blow me thought it said "SPORT" on the back of the car and it was all four tyres, I stated I was not in the habit of going the wrong way at roundabouts!! By 12k on the inside tread the braid was coming through... done 22k on the Pirrellis with out issue Cool - Guess I will be doing a deal with you James GONE** RRS 3.0SC Silver fully loaded - 2020 110 loving it BMW R1200GSA Rallye GONE** Fiesta ST2 - Mrs Wokka's - AMG35 now GONE**BMW K1600GTLE Matt Blue GONE**Disco 4 2014 Firenze Red GONE**Evoque SD4 Dynamic Coupe GONE**RRS 5.0 SC GONE**RRS HSE TDV8 GONE**RRS HSE TDV8 (The Crap one) GONE**FL Facelift GONE**FL 1 GONE**D1 GONE**BMW R1200GS Adventure GONE: Kawasaki ZX10R GONE: Focus ST2 ** Chinook CH47 - 2 x T55 engines 3,750 hp each!! 183mph, 2xM134 Miniguns, 1xM60 |

used to fitting Goodyear F1s on previous sports cars - so 8k wear rate is higher than usual for me |

I would have thought the soft compound of the Conti would give good grip for the S/C and probably the TDV8's torque too. Probably less of an issue on the TDV6

The Continentals are fitted on the XC90s as standard and the wear there on 18" rims is atrocious. As Wokka says 6-8k and theyre having to be changed yet they persist with them. There are endless threads about it over there with the 4 wheel alignment having to be done every 6 months to try drag a bit more miles out of them. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

Part of the problem I see is that from new, the shoulders of the tyre already have much reduced tread compared to rest of the tyre.

Part of the problem is that many people don't keep an eye on the pressure of their tyres and so tend to get uneven and increased wear. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

O my TDV8 I usually keep my Contis pressure a bit higher than recommended, to avoid the "feature" I experinced on TDV6. So far 13000 Km and shoulders still look ok '08 RRS TDV8

Also keep mine a bit higher than normal too and the wear pattern looks ok so far.

That's not good to hear. I have Goodyear Wranglers on my Disco3. 20k miles and not a scrap of wear seeing as I don't treat it like a 2.7t barge! So tye Pirellis are best? Will check out which ones I have. I personally don't expect to change gyres on a car sub 30k miles/3 yrs which is the shelf life of a car fir me. So I wouldn't be happy spending cash on gyres after less than a year. Anyone got a link to a related old thread? 2010MY Land Rover Freelander 2 HSE
