Hi Tim, You are absolutely right there is no way I can wait until Nov/Dec to get a V8. I'll stick with the TDV6 which is on order and should get begining of June and put my name down for a V8

Cashe, you can always get the TC treatment to tide you over. Then trade up to a V8 at a later date. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award

Supposedly, the V6 will continue to be available as well as the V8. But as with most of these things, it will be a case of waiting for official announcements with regard to the lifespan of the TDV6...

The current V6 TDi diesel engine in the RRS will be replaced with a brand new engine that provides better emissions performance. But it isn't expected for at least 18 months. It is likely to be more expensive.

This will enable LR to do it's usual thing with prices............ launch the new Freelander (bigger and more expensive than present) and then put the prices of all the other models up to maintain the differential between models. They will offer a few new extras (like the V8 for the sport , D3 and RR TD)) and use that as the justification to jack up the prices. I suspect it will do the values of our Tdv6s no harm at all as it will continue to be in demand for the average punter until the next small diesel engine arrives in 2007! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I have been given permission by my other half to trade in my 12 months old D3 TDV6 for a RR Sport. I thought it would be best to wait for the new V8 Diesel as I find the D3 diesel sluggish when trying to overtake on Cornish A roads. I worry that the V8 petrol will depreciate too quickly and have got used to the abundant torque that comes with the oil burner.

Tim in Scotland - you are nothing if not prolific! At least you can be relied upon for a well-informed response.

I could see a price increase with S/C moving to £60k V8D to sit between £55-£58k 4.4V8 = couple of k TDV6 move closer to 50k Don't forget there is talk of increasing displacement of TDV6 to 3.0. This would enable PAG to introduce either it, or V8D into new XK (Not as ridiculous as it sounds, this is an industry rumour. BMW UK has already propositioned BMW Germany to put 535d unit into 6 series) If Freelander is increasing in size, could the top of the range Freelander be a TDV6 of 2.7L (Possibly slightly de-tuned?) V6 Diesel in RRS and D3 would be 3L V6. Only FFRR diesel would be V8D Thoughts?
