Supercharged Sport is Fantastic - Shame about the dealers!

I have had 3 cars from Stratstone Landrover now and have to say I had better service from Vauxhall when I bought a Vectra. The car is absolutely fantastic - I love it. Its the service that sucks.

The Dealership is not interested and I have tried everything else, now I have set up a website. Google "Stratstone Land Rover" I am currently No4 on page 1, and working hard to reach the top spot.
Feel free to take a look. www.stratstonelandrover.com

Thanks,
Steve

Welcome to the forum, Steve...

We should point out, in the interests of balance, that while you have obviously had a bad experience not everyone that goes to a Stratstone franchise will get poor service Very Happy

I think you got a little mixed up there Laughing

anyway, from what i read, you basically went to the dealer asking for a 3 year deal with GFV, but you was offered a 4 year deal thinking it was a 3year one Question

But you still bought it from them without reading the terms by the sounds of it and setup a website saying how hard done by you was Confused

Did you go to any other dealers like Charles Hurst Park Royal (forum Sponser) to see what they had to offer, or speak to a idependant finance company to such as MHC Finance (forum sponser).

It also looks like you have just joined here to boost your website up the rankings Rolling Eyes

Surley you read the paperwork you signed Shocked , i have had all sorts of quotes from a Stratstone dealership all where explained to me with all amounts payable cleary shown, your deal will have told you to make 47 payments of £x then 1 'balloon' payment of £y, i can't see how you claim to have 'been conned' when its your own stupidity or ignorance which has put you in the position you currently find yourself.

Tim, to be fair I don't think this is about dealer performance. I think this is about someone who's not read the T&Cs of their agreement and thinks it's the dealer's fault.

I'm on the verge of moving into OT, on the basis that we don't have a "RRS Darwin Awards" section Wink

Confused Confused It could just be me but I can't see what the dealer has done wrong other than arranging the lease for 4 years instead of 3. As others have said all the details of the deal inclucing costs and timeframes are well documented and set out. I don't understand how/why you signed the deal. Question Question

For what it's worth I'd take down the website, it doesn't do you any favours and opens you up for litigation unless of course you can prove that the dealer mislead you into a 4 year deal, in which case the FSA would be a better route than a website anyway.

Hi all,
Thanks for your comments.
I understand the reason for some of you saying its my own fault, but that is only part of it. I should have read the T&Cs fully and that IS my fault.
The problem I have is that I have had two vehicles previously on the terms I asked for, built up a "trust" with that branch, and went back in to see the same staff and asked for exactly the same deal. The reply was "no problem".
I signed the agreement with a salesman watching over me looking at his watch. I read fully the first pages I was signing and all seemed like a formality (tyre insurance etc). The salesman still looking at his watch then started just turning to where I should sign and missed out the important parts.
To say the deal is a con is not an understatement. You can buy a Supersport for about £4k more than my final balloon payment right now, and I have more than two years of payments to go.

Have a go if you like about me not noticing/reading all of the small print, but I had trusted this high end dealer to either give me what I asked for or say it could not be done. I had not paid a cut price from a back street garage - I am paying dearly for trusting Stratstone to be honest about the deal.

As for my website being being challenged legally - I welcome the chance to fight my corner.

I found this forum when using Google and obviously this does help my website - but I am pleased I found it and I will use it too. I am a member of the TVR Owners Club and you can see my posts often on TVR forums, see link below:

Thanks again guys.

Well I've had questionable service from a Stratstone dealer on the past. You have to give them an opportunity to rectify the problem, then stamp your feet if they won't.

However my issues related to condition of the product supplied and levels of service. After an unreasonable period of time, they did rectify all the problems and provided goodwill offers to compensate for the inconvenience. Customer happy matter closed.

Think you may make a rod for your own back, with a website like yours.
You do not mention dates that this problem occured, does this have more to do with the timing of your purchase and the fact that the car depreciated much more than you expected. LEaving you owing more than the car's value Question

I agree with the other posters here, that if you have signed a lease agreement, or any other type of contract, without checking the details of the agreement you do not have a reasonable complaint.

As previously mentioned, the FSA would be a better route if you beleive you have been missold a financial product. However I think they would rolling around the floor of their Canary Wharf offices laughing, when they read this complaint.

I can put you in touch with some unreputable boiler room scammers who may wish to sell you some worthless shares. Alternatively I hear the Nigerian Lottery has a lot of unclaimed prizes for UK Nationals. Thumbs Up

It's a bit far away for you - but I have to say the dealer I use here in Cambridge has - so far - been excellent.

Steve - I feel sorry for you, but really the issue is yours. Sorry it seems we're not being really sympathetic, but as often occurs if you post something like this on a forum and then create a website off the back of it, the world is really only seeing one side of the story - most of which I'm sure we're not seeing anyway.

Good luck with your crusade though and of course, you're more than welcome to post here as much as you'd like Thumbs Up

Steve,

Why would you let a salesman rush you when signing such important documents Question Its irrelevant if he feels the need to clockwatch, you after all, "the customer" is making a very important purchase.

I have had dealings with many main dealers who I would suggest had built up a degree of trust with me as I had them, but all in all I trust nobody especially when it comes to money. I would suggest any issues you have had with regards the paperwork side of things is purely your fault as you failed to check the documentation thoroughly.

Making a massive assumption that all was in order was very short sighted. It seems circumstance and your lack of necessity to check such legally binding documentation has landed you in a place you just do not want to be.

Unfortunate events but totally preventable. Good luck with the website. Wink L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

you say it's a four year deal, how come it's taken two years to realise the mistake? Was you thinking of a change in cars etc.
Is there any clause in the documents for termination early and just handing the car back?

Didn't Kam100 once post a link to a company who would check through loans and see if there's any errors in the policy wording that would make the loan agreement void ..... Just an idea Idea

You are right I was looking to change the car and thats how I have found out so far down the line.
I can get out of the deal now if I pay about £11,000 for the privilege!
I have tried searching for the article you mentioned by Kam100 but cannot find it - if anyone comes across it please let me know.
Cheers.

Steve, why not drop Kam100 a PM/email/ phone call (his contact details are in the Sponsors section IIRC) explaining the situation and asking for the details of the company mentioned. Kam is very helpful - as well as being a being a car "broker" he is also a licensed finance broker (ore whatever you call them) and an accountant..................... he might even take the car off your hands and supply whatever you want to replace it with! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
