WD40 - an interesting programme

On R4 this evening is a very interesting programme about WD40 and how it started out as a water dispersant for the space industry.......................... the most successful recipe was No40, hence the name Water Dispersant 40!
You can download it as a podcast to itune here http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/worldbiz They even have to add the unique "smell" to it as it doesn't have a natural smell! Eau de WD40..............................
Among the more unusual uses :-
It is used to stop swallows building nests on buildings as the mud they make their nests from will not stick to any surface sprayed with it.
Or for stopping squirrels from raiding your garden bird-feeders because they cannot grip the pole once you have sprayed it with WD. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Best use I had for it, other than water dispersing, was spraying everything under the bonnet on my first cars. Rocker cover, distributor cap, HT leads, air filter, radiator, anything under there.
It dried (still sticky) to a nice shiny finish, probably clogged up the air filter though Laughing
