United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver

i know it sounds random, i do trust him though, he has serviced all our cars/vans for years and is an ex rally mechanic, he just wanted to know if there was an easier way of getting into it that someone from a dealership knew.

the dealership didnt give the greatest confidence in their ability to do the job so i didnt want to spend the money on poor service with a faceless person to blame if they messed it up big time,

ill let you know how things go

Tommy

quick update, mechanic phoned me yesterday and asked me to ask on here about how much of the under the bonnet components need to be removed to do this job? has anyone seen this job being done or has it always been done in the dealers?

Some good threads about this on disco3.co.uk, complete with pictures - just go there and search for "egr" or look in their maintenance section.

Best to get the valves blanked to avoid future problems - Bell Auto Services sell a kit - their no. is at the top.

Price around as regards to remaps as there is a vast difference in price for the same thing. In Ireland it is a very big business and there are very good companies who also rolling road and live map for £250 for a Range Rover where as on the mainland it seems to start at £500+ You can also have a map "flashed" onto te ECU then tweeked to your vehicle so shop around. Mine has been rolling road tested at just over 260bhp on a fast road map and is returning an average of 28-33mpg depending on if it does the school run or not. also drivability is vastly improved as is off boost acceleration. However get all issues sorted, the EGR cleaned out and a full service before so it is in the best condition to get the best gain out of the map.

As regards to servicing ther are lots of dedicated LR specialists who can service your Sport at a fraction of the dealer cost and they really know what they are doing. so u might not be able to get a Moccachino whilst u wait and there is no fancy loan car but they can still stamp your book and keep the warrenty valid. I get mins serviced by a specialist and it has never ran better plus they will do those wee extra bits that the dealer would not do.

Hi Tommy,
I had similar symptoms with my TDV6 but it was fixed by software updates to the engine/gearbox at the dealer and has completely dialed out the lag, which was quite dangerous at the time. Might be worth considering if you aren't completely happy and haven't had any software updates in the last 18 months.
cheers,
