Hmm, they fill aircraft tyres with nitrogen. The idea being it behaves differently from air at a particular pressure, leading to less wear, therefore perceived to be safer.

I have nitrigen in the other car (old golf) and what I can report is a more constant tire pressue independant of the tire temperature and that you are less likely to need to top up the pressure.

![]() ![]() ![]() Nitrogen has larger molecules than oxygen yes..... but that wouldn't reduce seepage ![]() Anyway most people fill their tyres with air (not oxygen) which is 78% nitrogen anyway! |

I used this in my XK8 tyres. it totally changed the handling of the car as it firmed up the side walls and made the ride a little stiffer.

fairpoint NP, you are not to blame, the fool that wrote it is.....i'm sure everyone appreciates how small a molecule is (nitrogen or otherwise) and that is utter rubbish! |

Seems like a pain to me.....there you are doing your weekly checks and you find you need a bit of air in your tyres out comes the trusty foot pump and jobs a good one.

It does seam a little far fetched when it gets down to molecular structures of the tyres JF |

i would happily wager a not insignificant amount of cash that presented with two identical cars (other than what the tyres were filled with) you could not (10 times out of 10) tell the difference between the two not least because air = 80% nitrogen (no offence intended... its just i put this gimmick in the same box as windscreen wiper spoilers) |
