Brake sensors - change or not ????

Question Quick question. I'm going to change my rear brake pads.
If the sensor warning has NOT come on yet - is the sensor reusable?
I ask as many people sem to suggest changing the pad easy but the sensor a bit of a sod - so if I can avoid it I will

Any thoughts please?

Yes - if your sensor is not decalring yet then you are OK - if it was you would not know if it was the front or rear declaring without a visual....

I maintain that the sensors don't work - I got told my pads were at 92% and 95% - and yes they still 'lipped' the discs - and no sensors told me I had so little time left - apparently the sensors are embedded quite deep into the pads, I'm not sure they would even tell you before it was too late.....I think the sensor part is a waste IMHO

I have had scare tactics from Dealer in the past Nick. The sensor is seperate from the pad but mounted along side... IME when it starts alerting you have around 3mm+ of pad left and IIRC they are about 12-15mm deep when new. I did possibly 500 miles after the sensors started telling me it was time....

Some dealers will tell you time is up just for the exchange and £, IME the sensors worked and did there job twice on my last RRS....

92% is an interesting figure to be quoted..... assuming sensors were fitted (and i think if they weren't the sensor lamp would be on anyway) , you had plenty of time Laughing
