Could be the rattle I have... sounds like similar circumstances although mine is clearly coming from somewhere in front of the driver, so I don't think its the gearbox..

More I think about it, not sure if its the same thing. Mine comes on, and has similar sound, as a dump valve, when I lift of accelarator (only more metallic)? Does it sound the same as yours 2ndRower? |

Not sure what a dump valve sounds like. Mine always soundded like it was coming from something to do with the the steering / wheels. |

I got this wrong - They replaced the steering column last week, but this hasn't fixed the issue, so they are now going to replace the steering rack next week!! |

They replaced the steering rack a week or so ago to no avail, and having replaced pretty much every component around the steering the dealer called in Land Rover Australia.

good luck 2nd, hope you get it back with less rattles.. Mines in tomorrow for the quarterly lets hunt the radio problem, I have an annoying rattle that is becoming from behind the sunroof, if you push the roof lining up it stops, its taken 3 weeks and a lot of swearing to find it, current fix is a folded piece of cardboard shoved between the Sunroof internal sliding cover and the roof liner The list when it went in today: Brake Recall Fuel Injector/pump/whatever Recall ? Rattle in roof lining (behind sunroof) Suspect Front Ball joints problem, have these been redesigned Radio problem treasure hunt (cabin being stripped out) They reckon they can crack it in 2 days Not a Volvo, Corolla or A3 in sight, the loaner is

Just wondering, did they fix the 'rattle' from the sunroof? it's just a blue oil burner |

They had it for three days and the MLR mechanics, having driven around with the dashboard out of the car, claim the problem was with the 'crank angle sensor' and they are waiting for a new one to come from the UK.. In the meantime they've done a 'modification'... I think they are just guessing as the niose still happens now and again, although a lot less, but there is still a horrible reverboration you can sense in the steering wheel at ~60km/h Oh and the car still pulls to the right.. So despite reporting all these problems back in Feb, and the car going in 2 to 3 times a month since then i'm still driving around in a 'defective' car. I'm now getting past this, after more than 6 months with these problems and am likely to escalate now... My good will and patience has been used up..
Volvo was poxy and not really a fair substitute for the RRS for 3 days.. |
