United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue

S65

Twelve-cylinder biturbo engine with know-how from motorsport

5980-cc V12 engine de-veloped by Mercedes-AMG. The engine’s credentials are outstanding: maximum output of 450 kW/612 hp is maintained from 4750 to 5100 rpm, while the maximum torque of 1000 Nm can be called on from 2000 to 4000 rpm. Even as low as 1000 rpm, the AMG V12 biturbo engine already delivers 570 Nm of torque to the crankshaft, while 750 Nm is on tap at 1500 rpm.

How exactly do you transfer c.750lb.ft of torque through the rear wheels? Shocked

At least Biggles with his 550ish has 4wd.

It is an incredible engine (Bear in mind, it's a bored out 7.3L AMG in the Pagani Zonda S) but I refer to the above post.....how do you reallisticly transfer that onto the road with any real anger, on anything other than a smooth, bone dry road? Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

It will spin its wheels before the traction control gets a grip and puts your stomach in the boot. Laughing Wink Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Electronics, my dear Watson... electronics. It's stupidly powerful and obscenely torquey (740 lb/ft for f***s sake) - it's virtually impossible to stop the wheels spinning on wet ground but gentle application of the right foot will get you away on dry. But as I said earlier, turn off the TC and you're just going to go through sets of rear tyres... Wink

But I hear it's more economical than an SC! Laughing Laughing Laughing

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Ahhh, but Shmoogle you can probably buy 2 RRS S/C and still have change for a couple of spare sets of tyres for each and a year's worth of fuel for the same price as an AMG Merc whotsitsname. And I bet the Merc wouldn't get very far on a muddy field either, no matter what you did to the TC Laughing 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Shmoogle, I know ther is TC fitted, but my point is...

How do you actually transfer the power and make it remotely driveable?

If the TC is kicking in and out all the time, it's not exactly smooth progress is it?

Well, it's a driving style adjustment isn't it... you know not to drive a 600bhp car around on wet public road with your foot to the floor all the time.... you need to learn to "drive" a car before buying one of these I suspect or you will come unstuck in it.

Well basically my car was not Vat'able, so i told them so..
sold my car in April to another outfit for good money.. then bought an RS4 later this year, and have now just bought a Bmw 335d for Dec..
So bit of an old thread now, but thanks for the long reply/explanation, hope it comes in handy for another person at some point.
