Towbar Cover

Is it possible to buy the plastic towbar cover that is fitted when there has been no towbar added to the vehicle ? If so any idea how much ?

I had a red cover which some lowlife has decided to take !! Not sure why but obviously they wanted one !! Unless of course it has feel off ? Not too sure how they fit on.

Just noticed it now and it must have gone missing in the last couple of days.

Thanks in advance.

Hmmm. I have had a towbar and electrics fitted recently. I didn't pay much attention to it before. But, before I had the twobar electrics fitted, did I still have the same cover .... but just with nothing beneath it, or have they amended my bumper in some way? I've been mad for flipping years, absolutely years, over the edge for yonks.

The cover part of the bumper is fine, its the part that covers the actual tow bar connection which is beneath the bumper slightly set back.

Probably will have to nip to the dealers and see if they know if it's replaceable.

I spotted a couple on ebay whilst looking for a tow bar
I cant help wonder why someone would have a spare to sell........

However since using the towbar a few times my red thing is looser and looser
Im waiting eagerly for it to fall off Evil or Very Mad
Its not inconceivable yours has just fallen off too

The red bung

Mine was a loose fit and has gone missing - the retaining tang was too small - you've reminded me. I must get a new one, the part number looks to be KNG500013 - Tow Bar Protective Cap - LR price about £3.

There must be a way to drill a little hole through the red cap and use a small length of wire or cable to attach it to one of the two adjacent eyes. That way if it does fall out it won't go far.

Got one for free after the last one dropped out, they cannot cost much, ask for one on the next service, perhaps the dealership will throw one in Thumbs Up Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Thanks very much for the responses. The red plug is the one that I need to order so appreciate the possible part number Bob and pictures.

Think I may try and put a wire through as Supacat suggests albeit need to get the replacement first !!

Appreciate all your comments and help (as usual Thumbs Up )

But what's it for anyway ? I guess its to stop lots of mud and dirt getting in there which would get in the way when you next fitted the removable tow bar. But maybe some tape over the hole would do just as well ? RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

IIRC on my last RRS i bent the 'catch' outwards to five it a tighter fit over concern of loss but TBH i don't think i'd miss it enough to replace it Confused

That sounds like a super advise. I also noticed that the plug doesn't find it's way on the first attempt. Very good idea. Thumbs Up

Noticed one of the two pins attaching the cover on mine was broken. I got a couple from the dealers and keep one as a spare in with the tools under the rear floor together with a two-pence piece to lock/unlock the pins with.

I think it's only a matter of time before another one breaks if you are taking the cover off and putting it back on on a regular basis. Best to view them as a consumable part.
