I have a detatchable tow bar on my 08 TDV8. I have towed my single axle caravan with it, and it looked nice and level.

I have this with a builders type trailer.... down to the wheel size combination i guess - initially i was concerned but have adjusted to it, when empty it saves tyre wear on the back axle, when loaded both axles have road contact ..... |

Oh - and i think i measured a number of cars towbars to compare and i think they all sat @ 13" from the ground to top of the ball IIRC.... so i put it down to the [to some degree] trailer wheel sizes.... |

I’ve had this in the past with my twin axle trailer when using the removable tow ball. Whereas on a D1 or D2 it towed just fine & level.

Both the Discovery and Defender Td5's had land rover adjustable height tow bar's, with the tow ball set to the 'standard' height, where everything previously sat straight. Not sure I want to put a fixed tow bar on the sport, as I want it to look it's best and this would surely spoil it's looks. Is it an option to raise the ride height slightly to compensate? I have IDS and Autologic here, but is it the done thing? I guess it would only take an additional 25-30mm to level it. Feel the difference... Feel Alive! I wouldn't start playing with changing the factory ride heights, especially to raise the vehicle and when towing.

I think you will find that one of those detachable tow hooks is not a genuine Land Rover part. To the best of my knowledge Land Rover have not changed the dimensions of the detachable towbar since the D3 was launched five years ago. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

It's a well known problem. The detachable towbars are too low but i's unbelievable that such an expensive and nice car needs to be mutilated with a horrable fixed tow bar. |
