Yes. Apparently sponges catch grit and dust keeping iton the surface and marking the paint. Best option is a lambswool wash mitt.

Use a bucket of clean water to rinse it in between wipes so that only clean wash solution ever touches the paint for a showroom finish Smile Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

the expensive Zymol range has sponges, theses are very soft with large holes in apparently, similar to a B&Q grout sponge

What I don't understand is that you intend to clean your car yourself - surely you have staff to do these things. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

i suppose i should have said not to use if used grouting Embarassed

IMO microfibre noodle or lambswool washmits are the way to go, and large microfibre drying towels instead of a leather chamois

Don't forget to use two buckets to ensure the grit that yoiu've taken off the car, is rinsed in one bucket before dipping the mitt into the shampoo bucket.

I kid you not, it's the best way to avoid scratches......

Also, use a micro-fibre cloth for drying rather than a chamois leather..... Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Im with VA on this one. There's no way I could be bothered to wash my own car!

£10 gets it done to a showroom finish at my local Hand car wash!

Cant argue with that!

And get a full valet every 3 months to do the inside!
