Newbie Questions...

Hi all - I'm a newbie to this forum, however, not totally new to RR ownership having previously had a 4.4 V8 Vogue.

I'm considering buying an 07 reg 3.6 TDV8 in Lugano Teal with black interior and have some questions for you all:

1. Where is it possible to connect an iPod- is a kit required for full interface? Is it possible to remotely control the iPod?

2. The car I'm looking at has a cradle kit (no adaptor) in the centre armrest. There is a button with a blue light on it - does this mean it has bluetooth (which is essential) - do all HSE's come with bluetooth and will my Nokia E71 work?

3. How big a job is it to fit rear screens and how much?

4. There is a red tow bar "kit" under the rear clip off bumper cover - does this mean it has a tow bar?

I would be really greatful if you could share some pictures of how all this might work/plug in?

Cheers and looking forward to being an active member!

James

Re: Newbie Questions...

1. There is an aux plug in in the back, near the rear heated seat buttons under a flap.
2. All HSEs have bluetooth, your phone should work ok
3. I paid £1000 for a professional job, 2 screens, dvd player, tv signal booster, 2 sets of wireless headphones all fitted, great installation Thumbs Up
4. not necessarily, there is a removable towbar option, lift the carpet in the boot to see if it is there.

The red bit of plastic is fitted to all RRS it's just to protect the towbar hole that is part of the cars chassis.
The important thing is to see if there is the electrics fitted, above and to the left and right of this red plastic.

If you cat simply has two holes in the chassis then yo have a standard non towbar fitted car.

As Jonny has pointed out, the removable towbar is storred under the boot carpet with the tools/jack.

I had a PS3 installed in the rear of my car for £750, then had to pay for a new PS3 on top but well worth the money.

Enjoy.

Not the clearest picture I'm afraid, too much black going on...lol

I have also cut a small leter box hole in the plastic front trim of the seat to allow disc changing on the move.

The only thing I was not happy with is the angle of the monitors which follow the back of the headrests.
This makes viewing the screens a little crap if you are really short (as in a 9 year old child), the in staller said no problem and now has a pair of monitors that tilt, just got to go back next week to have them fitted.

Thanks for the answers all - appreciated.

I understand there is an Aux input behing the centre console, however, is it possible to remotely control the iPod via the steering wheel controls?

Cheers

You can buy things that will let you control them....think JayMann has them in his cars.

LR do a reasonable connection kit, it allows all kinds of apple devices to be connected to the car AUX system, you can swap between tracks using the steering wheel controls, shame you cant see the track info on the display monitor.
This kit even comes with a pair of phono inputs and a USB input for certain types of other mp3 players (these are just visible above and behind my DAB unit).

I have mine fitted in the little glove box together with my DAB unit.

I thought there must be a LR iPod connection kit - am surprised there is not screen interface though.

Not the end of the world but look like they have a way to go to catch up with Audi/BMW etc.

I'm I to take it there is no FULL iPod interface available (s/w controls and screen)?

Cheers for your advise.

I think the inverter cost £180 which is a little steep!

And yes the LR kit does include a USB which is quite handy, I use mine a lot to charge my phone...lol
