Supercharger Fuel Consumption

Just bought a supercharger and am quite shocked at the fuel consumption! Shocked

Before you all say "what did you expect?" I wasn't expecting to achieve the published EU figures, but I wasn't expecting 12 mpg after driving like a granny because I had dogs in the back and I didn't want to make them sick! No full throttle acceleration, cruise set at less than 80 on the motorway and generally pottering at low speed off the motorway.

Is this normal?

Better get a Nectar Card or a Shell Driver's Club card to take advantage of all the visits to filling stations you will be making. Did you know that when the tank gets to 15ltr remaining your satnav will show the locations of the nearest filling stations? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yeah, very funny...

OK, I'll re-phrase the question:

Can anyone who has actually OWNED a S/C RRS please advise if this fuel consumption is normal?

(Smug owners driving vehicles powered by tractor fuel need not reply - if I didn't care about performance, refinement, and the horrible smell I'd have bought one of them too Wink )

Misery measures journeys in fuel stops rather than miles.
It could be worse - you might have bought a FFRR S/C............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Did that before today's journey!

I had expected an average of 15-16 mpg (except when really giving it the beans of course) and would be happy with that.

However, if there is something wrong I don't want to be chucking money away unnecessarily.

I wouldn't mind 12 mpg if I was driving it properly (in fact I would probably be quite pleased), but I really was driving it like a Granny today as one of my dogs is prone to travel sickness - not good with Ivory trim!

Thanks Freddie for pointing out that thread - 15 mpg is what I would have expected as an average and possibly better for today's journey.

I'll have a little play with Sport mode and Command Shift tomorrow (as I have heard that it can be more economical in CS as well as being more fun Very Happy ). If it doesn't improve I will get it checked out as I hate waste...

On a related issue, anyone found any significant difference with 98/99 octane vs. regular unleaded? Made a big difference (performance and economy) in my 911.

Shocked Crikey! ... 550 miles between stops for me ... hopefully even further after reading the post about adding 0.3l of 2 stroke oil before each fill up ... God bless the diesel engine Wink (makes him feel a bit better for not going with the SC RRS option)
