United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Java Black

Terrible, just terrible. I live near a school that had a slaughter as well (Columbine). To this day, our state still hurts about it. It was almost 10 years ago...

It's just sad that children can get a hold of guns...

update:

- kid was in psychiatric treatment..... but cancelled it some 2 weeks ago... Rolling Eyes

- parents had legally 15 weapons at home but german laws specs that weapons at home have to be locked up in armoured *armoires* or wardrobes ( i don't know the exact word in english) - the weapons had been in the parents bedroom available to all.... Rolling Eyes

- the night before he announced the killing in the net - but a father of another kid that read it didn't believed it and didn't call the Police... Rolling Eyes

For Censored sake !

Angel it's the same here regarding storage of most guns, and IIRC your storage has to be subjected to an annual inspection by the police before they re-issue your fire-arms licence as well. All rifles and shotguns have to be locked in certified safes (Pistols arent generally available to any but military and Police in the UK) to which only the licence holder has a key. any access by anyone else is a criminal offence by both the licence holder and the person obtaining access.
Firearms offences are typically 'absolute' which means there is no defence/mitigation and mandatory minimum sentences are of the order of 5-10 years.
Sadly having some of the strictest firearms laws in the world doesnt prevent British youngsters shooting each other with illegal weapons on a weekly basis in battles over 'turf', drugs and 'respect' Sheep

you are subject to inspection at any time the Police feel like it and you lose your licence and guns as soon as there is a suspicion that you might be a threat to public safety. In this circumstance you are guilty till proven innocent. Any accusation of abberrent or threating behaviour and they are all quite correctly taken away Thumbs Up .

Unfortunately criminals by definition arent licensed and arent subject to any regulation etc and do as they will.

I have to agree wholeheartedly, they bear a portion of the responsibility for the whole tradgedy
Unfortunately the main perpetrator is beyond punishment by society Censored

This will be cold comfort to those suffering loss of family or loved ones.

Playing Devil's advocate if the kid had picked up a kitchen knife from home and gone and stabbed people would his parents have been to blame?

If someone is that screwed up they will find a way to wreak the havoc they want but i do agree it shouldnt be made so easy by stupidly leaving guns around, but involuntary homicide? they are guilty of not knowing their son was a maniac and poor gun security but involutary homicide? what kind of sentence does that carry?

The reason guns have to be kept locked up is to try to prevent exactly this kind of thing happening.
Its part of the responsibility you accept when you take on ownership of them.

If you fail in your duty of care, there are consequences..

Knives dont have to be kept locked up so if he'd used one they wouldnt have been culpable as they hadnt failed in a legal (and moral) obligation to secure them

A terrible tragedy - my condolonces to all those affected.

As far as the parents are concerned - I think in this case they do bear some responsibility. Put simply, they had a son that they new was suffering from a mental illness and that he was under medical treatment for it - why therefore did they think it safe to leave guns unsecured and accessible by their son? Even forgetting the fact that they have broken the law by not keeping the weapons locked away - common sense would tell you to keep them away from someone in their son's condition - if only for his own safety!

As for the warning he posted on the web - It has been proven to be a fake. There are always some sicko's out there that want to get in on the act Evil or Very Mad 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black
