I have very slow broadband - like most folks in the the UK who are lucky if they can get even 50% of the rate claimed by BT and the ISPs who say we should get 7.2mbps and what most get is 3.6 or even less! In today's Sunday Times there is an item about a new device called iPlate which is claimed to cancel out electrical interefence from things like microwave ovens, door bell systems, heating thermostats - even your TV set can affect the speed of your B/B connection. The device is available from BTshop at £11.75 or from Broadbandbuyer.co.uk for £9.30 - has anybody tried one of these devices and are they worth the outlay?

I live in the middle of nowhere Tim and my speed seems ok. http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/re...14933.html I think its because I live near the exchange. Generally speaking items that cut out noise make minimal impact if the speed deficit is due to the distance from the exchange. ADSL over distance degrades significantly and over 3km you can see major losses in bandwidth. Wozz, we have the same problem here, there's not even a hope of fibre-optics to replace the copperwire cables for the phones coming here in the next 10 years. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
