I got a response.
Base system is a single CD player with NO MP3 capability nor AUX input. (and of course not a HARMAN CARDON)
So it seems that LR values its customers so much, that it tells them that if you want MP3 capability in a 30000 pounds car in 2009, you need to pay 600 more
F unbelievable.
Even my PANDA has MP3 capability
BTW although it is mentioned on their (LR) website that HI-ICE is Logic7, on the paper I got from the dealer Logic 7 is only for Premium ICE system 2009 Range Rover Sport 2.7 TDV6 SE, Alaska White, Almond leather, tinted windows, active rear diff, tow pack, HiICE, full spare: gone and already missed

I am on a standard system in my XS apart from PTI and Sat Nav and the audio is pretty awful tbh.
Coming from a 7 series there is no comparison. I wish I had know when I ordered it but seeing as I haven't hooked up my iphone either I don't have a great choice in the music dept beyond a few cd's (which feels like a step back in time).
I would invest in the uprated audio in future. WINNER - 2009 Best Newcomer Award
