Changed the fuel filter yesterday. The sensor that that detects water was cracked (plastic housing). There was a couple of small bubbles of water in the filter but very minor.

Filled up the tank at BP station, Shepherds Hill, Reading with Diesel. Drove a couple of miles and engine management light came on - no other warnings.

OK, getting to the bottom of this. Appears there are two different diesel filters, one for 2.7 and one for 3.0 by the look of it.

@ tornado - the filter diagram referred by muffd is for the MY07 model onwards. Yours is a MY06, so please refer to this.
