Snow Pictures!

I can't see that anyone has set up a thread for snow pictures (probably due to my snow blindness), so if there is one running then apologise, but if not then I'll kick off with these three.

1. Ivinghoe Beacon - High winds and drifts.

2. M1 coming into London with a snow plough coming the other way.

3. Charles Hurst Park Royal.

Nice set of icicles there on the RRS VA Rolling with laughter

Not so spectacular but this was central Scotland at 1:30 this afternoon

It's a lot worse the further east you go from here. And here it is at 4pm.

Mind you the sun setting on the mountains in the Trossachs area was spectacular tonight - all the tops were glowing orange as the sun sank below the horizon. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yeh Angel, but when Germany get's snow like we have had the country's major cities don't grind to a halt like ours do, it's like a normal day for you guys!

Lemm, the VO looks good in the snow. Better than on a normal dull and overcast day in the UK! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

first time i've driven in snow, and its surpirinsly easy with LR's traction control... drove up to Epsom Downs with no issues at all. Without wanting to look too smug, i helped a few struggling cars to the side of the road, jumped back in the RRS and off we went... OK i was driving cica 10mph, but a no point did i feel like i was never in control. Brilliant... more snow please!

for all you experienced off-roaders out there... when is the best to use the LOW Ratio Option on the gear box? I was selecting LOW, when going up and down hills, then HIGH (when i remembered) for flat sections. Was this the right thing to do? RRS First Edition S/C, Vesuvius Orange, Rear Entertainment, Alpine TUE-T200DV, Stormer Alloys. (+ 19" MTR's for playing in the snow!)

Low will be OK in snow that deep Lemm, just avoid 1st low which is best left for going down steep and slippery hills or climbing sand dunes in UAE. You will find that if you can get the box up from low 2nd to lo 3rd and then maintain a speed in low third that HIGH 2nd will be able to cope - the problem is the loss of momentum while changing from low to high! Unless you get really stuck and need to start wrenching the steering wheel from side to side or really weelying the motor in low gear, best to leave the DSC ON as well. Once stuck switch the DSC off in snow mode so the ECU doesn't limit the engine revs when you need them.
I'm pretty sure that unless you manually select 1st in the grass/mud/snow setting the ECU sets the gearbox up to pull away in 2nd anyway.

BTW Has anybody tried the HDC in snow? I assume it works just as well as being in low first for engine braking effect. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

HDC on any slippery surface can be like having a nagging wife sitting next to you "Slow Down! Slow Down!"

It comes on when on flat surfaces and tries to limit your speed. I was crossing the Army Ranges and wondered why the harder I pressed the accelerator then the slower the car went. Switching it off meant I could drive at the speed I wanted, not the one the car thought was best. 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit
