The police suspect the car may have been on it's way to Cyprus or the Middle East.

The last time I spoke to the flying squad officer handling the case, they've not arrested anybody as the documents they recovered for the shippment were forged. 2008 TDV8, Java Black, Ebony Sports Seats, Side Steps, Zebrano, Privacy Glass, Premium ICE, Hybrid TV.

OK update and request for help and advice from anybody who knows about insurance companies.

9th January i receive letter from insurance that they have concluded the investigation into my claim and they had instructed their engineer to make me a full loss offer, 26th January full loss offer made by my insurance company and new car purchased although funds would take ten days to hit my account, 3 days later i receive a call from Suffolk police that the stolen car has been found in a container on Felixstowe docks, now insurance company are debating about returnng the stolen car, i want them to settle as per their offer letter.

I feel it would be unfair for them to withdraw at this stage and also i feel it is not unreasonable for me to obtain new car on the strength of their offer on both the 9th and 26th, neither the policy or their settlement offer has any time line or claw back clause.

Can anybody offer any advice if this goes the wrong way for me.

Many thanks

in this market,

insurance companies are looking for any reason not to have to pay out, in theory you should be able to keep the offer, however, they will be very difficult about it and you may have to result in expensive solicitors, which will deminish the monies on offer! RR Sport supercharged 06

Where are you in terms of the new vehicle purchase? Did you go ahead and buy it without the money from insurers on the basis you were expecting the payment? If you have done that - and of course you would want a new car - I would put it to them, that the order has been placed, and unless the insurance were going to cover your substantiated losses - they can go ahead and recover your old car and dispose of it as they see fit. It wasn't like you had jumped the gun and purchased a car without their offer...

fyi, the same thing happened to me, ppl broke into my house, and i forgot to register tracker, anyway after an hour of argueing with tracker two days later, they found the car 0.5 miles away in a council estate! fuc*ers curbed one of the wheels and nicked my girlfriends LV handbag, which cost me £800 to replace, however, they didnt steal anything else except my CDs! not even the Cartier sunglases i left in the glovebox!

fyi, we should be careful about what we say about where we leave or what we have in cars on the forum, as anyone could read it and get ideas! RR Sport supercharged 06

Mate, then just get your solicitor to write to them and get them to be intelligently polite and advise you have accepted their offer in full and final settlement - if you had been in a state of negotiation, they would pull you back and revoke the offer - but the offer had been made, you had offered them your bank details which would constiture full settlement - I think you'll find, they are just trying it on - and it's just bad timing on their part.

Good you got a new car from it.....but crap that you have all this agro to go along with it

I have just read this, and spoken to my claims manager,

They have to offer you the car back, but since they have made you a offer which you have accepted and purchased a new car on the back of, we both agree what NickM has said to be reasonable

Let them dispose of the stolen RRS themselves however they see fit and put them fund towards what they have settled with you Thumbs Up

When i had a car written off they made it quite clear that the settlement offer they was going to make if accepted could then NOT be negociated afterwards, so why should it be any different for them
