roughness coming through steering

Hi everyone, sorry if this has been covered recently.
Im feeling a rotational roughness through the car peticularly through the steering wheel when taking off and at low speeds.
best i can explain it is like ...ru..ru..ru..ru.. like something going around and around. if you get what i mean. its defo not in the brakes, i think! and the tyres all seem ok.
could it be gearbox?

any help appreciated!

If you have big wheels (more than LR's recommended 20" max) check that one of the front tyres isn't fouling on the wheel arch on full lock, or on the inside of the wheelarch protector right inside the wheel arch, especially if you have the suspension lowered. IIRC somebody found they were rubbing away the hydraulic hoses for the brakes when they fitted really big wheels. This can also be a problem when folks fit big wheels to Defenders too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I had a similar experience when running with standard hse 19's with pirelli tyres.
If you parked and the tyres got cold they would do that until warmed up...I think our american cousins had a big issue with tyres flat spotting.
Does it happen with hot tyres?

just a thought.

How many miles on your current tires and vehicle?

High performance tires that begin to "feather" along the edge can get a choppy profile and at slow speeds, you'll hear that ru ru ru...

Failing that, it could be a wheel bearing beginning to wear out. PJPR
